Is there anywhere like The Book People where you can buy sets of audio books cheaply?

In particular I am looking for a set of the Horrible Histories on CD, but I am also thinking of any children's books on CD. I have looked at ebay, but the choice there is very small and mainly consists of the newspaper freebies which I am not so keen on.

The Horrible Histories CDs that came free with the Telegraph were soooo dull!

The Book People had a couple of sets in this time actually.

Try the library too. You could copy them.

DumbledoresGirl · 10/10/2007 12:33

Yes I thought so too. Although, having dismissed them all, I then saw on ebay a Horrid Henry one and had to re-think my position as my youngest 2 loved the Horrid Henry ones when they came out in the summer.

TBPeople have the Dahl set in again and the Lemony Snickett series.

ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween · 10/10/2007 12:34

Dahl code 617-RDL
Lemony code 617-LSQ

audiobooks.co.uk

Mostly list price though, or a pound or two off, so not like the book people

They also have Winnie the Witch books and story/musi CD 617-WWV
and Tremendous Tractorseetc 617-AZQ

I have the catalogue in front ofme.It has lots of pages marked for purchases

Sometimes Play.com have audio books cheaper than say Amazon.

The free Famous Five ones were fabulous. DSs loved them. A kind MNer copied a set for me and I copied themfor someone else (which reminds me, a friend offered me the Secret 7, must chase her)

DumbledoresGirl · 10/10/2007 12:39

Expletive! The Book People website is a PITA. The search facility is useless. I searched for Horrible History audio CDs and got everything with the word history in, every CD and even Horrid Henry!

Just search for CD

WendyWeber · 10/10/2007 12:41

Oxfam have used ones (some are cassettes)

DumbledoresGirl · 10/10/2007 12:41

Just tried your Roald Dahl code too and found out it is a huge order, costing £18 or more. I am really looking for stocking fillers that will cost less than that.

Oooh! They have Beatrix Potter too and a Charlie and Lola book/CD set...

saltire · 10/10/2007 12:43

DG - type audio cd into the search box, that brings them up, I've jsut tried

ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween · 10/10/2007 12:43

The RRP is over £100 (apparently) though.

ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween · 10/10/2007 12:46

I'mnot sure you'll find stocking filler proiced ones other than Ebay if you're lucky.

DumbledoresGirl · 10/10/2007 12:46

Well, based on searching for audio CD, they don't have anything I want. Never knew about that Oxfam site! But it didn't have anything either.

You might be right about only finding what I want on ebay. What would be really good would be if we could get together here on MN. Someone buys the complete Roald Dahl set for instance, and someone else buys the complete Horrible History set (if there were such a thing ) and then we all swapped around so we all had one or two of each instead of 15 Roald Dahl CDs (I feel sick just thinking about having that much Dahl on CD!)

I have a freebie Ruthless Romans disc you're welcome to and I can check to see if my parents threw out the recent freebie ones...

DumbledoresGirl · 10/10/2007 12:57

I have a Rotten Romans CD which came with a cereal packet years ago. Is it different to that I wonder?
