I love the huggababy

very adaptable and I used it with ds until he was 2 (he was not a small baby). I even took him across London in it when he was about 2.5. Much easier than using a buggy.

we used a roobaby pouch sling when ds was that age and when he got bigger a ergo carrier until very recently(hes 22 months-could have gone on longer but im short and petite and hes not!!!) which he adored!both very comfy for me and him.

Another vote for the Huggababy. Very easy to put on; you can bf in it, and graduate to different positions as the baby/toddler grows.

Hugabub or a wrap sling - just a long piece of material you wrap round you & baby. Looks daunting at 1st but easy and super comfy once you get the hang of it

Wrap slings are great and very versatile. Whereabout are you? If you have a local shop you can try different kinds and see which you like . Have heard good things about the Ergo as well.

Oh and I have a Didymos - bit more expensive but v good quality.

pinkrangernowwobbles · 06/10/2007 09:42

Most of the places I know are in N/e London so nt much help. Do some websites do hire as well as buy? Or could you borrow a friend's?

oh, i got my first girasol yesterday and it is thin and flannelly soft and perfect for a newborn but sturdy and versatile enough to still take my 2 stone toddler. Cheaper than Didy and Storch too.

kiskidee · 06/10/2007 14:55

i could do with a 6wk old just to put in a wrap sling and potter about the house. I felt really stupid when dd insisted I carry her dolly around instead of her. ]
