Car due for servicing...can I still drive it?

So, our car (Mercedes class C) is showing Service A due...called around and first appointment I can get is scheduled for the 9th of Sept. Am I OK to still rive it in the meantime? Hmm

Yes, it is fine to drive.
If it is a potentially catastrophic fault, a warning not to drive comes up.
Well it did on my shitty Fiesta, I would expect a Merc to have similar warnings.

Is it still under warranty?

DH’s car showed the service warning message and he ignored it for about a month. Then something went wrong with the car and he couldn’t have it repaired under warranty because he hadn’t serviced it quickly enough! That taught him a lesson.

It’s not a legal obligation to get a car serviced, it’s good for the car and if your car has something that shows it needs one then it’s best to get it done, but the only thing a car needs to have is a valid MOT and insurance to drive it, so crack on. Loads of people never get their cars serviced at all!

Ok, thanks all for the replies. We always get it serviced it’s just that this time I can’t seem to get a slot soon enough before a small friendship group gathering next weekend...and I just don’t want to miss that! Thanks once again! Smile

A bit late to the thread but.....

And don't forget you don't need to use the main dealership. As long as the garage is VAT registered and uses genuine parts (if you have a warranty to keep up) you are covered.

Very good point, but with several caveats for OPs specific circumstances. The non-franchised garage also has to perform the service to the manufacturer's standards as well as use genuine parts to maintain the validity of any manufacturer's warranty. In practice, this pay prove difficult.

Specifically relating to Mercedes Benz passenger cars, the 30 year Mobilo breakdown cover which they have offered on all cars since 1998 is conditional on having it fully serviced (routine and additional work) at an official Mercedes Benz Retailer.

If your car is leased, there may also be contractual obligations to have it serviced at a MB Retailer and, last but not leased, residuals on Benzes get thoroughly trashed without full MB service history.
