0+ stage car seat? saw it in john lewis the other day and the base looks pretty narrow, which could be a bonus as need to fit baby seat, booster seat and high back booster in as well. the only thing thats putting me off is the price tag. i know you cant put a price on safety etc, but £180 for soemthing i cant sell on really, and could only be used for 6-9months based on dd2 size. why cant they make a 2 stage car seat with isofix for the same price? once bubs outgrows this one then i'd need to buy another.

can't you get a normal carseat for the first 9 months? then buy isofix? we have isofix in car - but ds is only 7mo and is just using normal rockatot c/seat and we'll get isofix for the front facing when he's big enough. also Mothercare said that isofix is only made by 1 (?) manufacturer just now -but more are on their way as isofix is going to become the standard soon. so may be better choice/cheaper prices soon?

true. but i want one lol!!

dh says to leave it for a while, dont need it till feb really (due in march), and chances are we will have to change all the car seats to fit them in. might get them to check the 2nd stage one at the same time. knew we should've got a bigger car.

The baby car seats that were about when dd1 was born seemed so much narrower. have they gotton wider over the last 5 years?

I would go for one too. I have a second 9 months + Britax Isofix and TBH I wouldn't be happy having anything other than that now. It's so safe.

I'd definitely have a look at this. The most common cause of injury to babies in car seats is caused purely from not fitting the seat properly. This is especially the case with the first stage car seats. Isofix removes this risk. So far me it's the safty issue.

Going to have a look now!

BTW, try an independent baby shop. The second stage one was £180 in Mothercare when we bought ours, but we got it from an independent shop for £150.

its £20 cheaper on kiddicare atm, so is very tempting. and i do get a maternity grant, and dont need much else for the baby, so i think car seats may the way to go.

Also another problem we have is dd2 is very large for her age. i'm, not happy for her to be in a high back booster with just an adult belt to sercure her, as she slips down when sleeping. I have seen a special needs one, which uses a 5 point harness, would it be too odd to use one even tho dd2 doesnt have special needs? only an option if it will fit obviously.

Just had a look and it looks greta. DH agrees with me. If and when I manage to concieve, I will certianly be going to have a look in more detail. Really impressed with the Duo seat, so can only imagine this ne is as good.

one of the things i looked into when considering a new car was isofix, as felt too many times people dont fit the seats properly. i'm very picky about the car seats, the club class we had was the bets fitting car seat for ages, could always fit it in any car we used. but sometimes it was so fiddly.

tbh i'm not a fan of baby seats, dd's always had the 2 stage seats which stayed in the car so i never had to re-fix the seats, and didnt find them a problem really. was easy to put them in the buggy etc even if asleep in the car seat. but now looks like i will have to get a baby seat this time. especially since we had to ditch the club class one after the car accident.

lets just hope this one fits with the others.
