Thomcat · 15/10/2004 19:01

I just spent 20quid on a pair for a 2 yr old, they were handpainted, is that really OTT, shall I fib to D about the price?!!!!

WigWamBam · 15/10/2004 23:04

I should fib about it Thomcat - I wouldn't pay more than a fiver, she's only going to splash in puddles in them and they'll last her for about three weeks at the rate kids feet grow!

mckenzie · 16/10/2004 17:52

bottersnike - how did your Welligog wellies come up size wise? I'm worried that they might be too slim for my chunky legs.

zebra · 16/10/2004 17:59

When if ever do U lot actually wear your wellies?

I wear mine, B+Q standard issue, 4 the school run some days.

WigWamBam · 16/10/2004 18:24

Doing the gardening or jumping in puddles with my daughter , you don't need £45 wellies for that!

throckenholt · 16/10/2004 18:51

I wear my wellies nearly all the time when I am outside - find them much more versatile than walking boots - usually wear then when out walking the dog etc.

I think I paid £25-£30 for a pair - maybe once every couple of years. I think they are hunters.

But then we live surrounded by fields and have 1/2 an acre to look after ....

posyhairdresser · 16/10/2004 19:28

I have worn wellies once in the last 8 years, to a clay pigeon shoot.
Where are you guys going that you need wellies for?

I need an excuse to buy from the new fab range!

mckenzie · 18/10/2004 13:52

I'm going to wear my new trendy wellies (once I've found some I like that fit) when i go to the local park with DS as the grass is always damp this time of year. DS wears his wellies which are bright and colourful and i'd like some the same!

I'm tempted to try the girls ones from boden as they are less than half the price of the adults ones!

Davros · 18/10/2004 15:33

Patterned/colourful wellies are IN according to Heat (maybe that means they're now OUT!). My mum's still got a pair of glitter Biba wellies from the 70s, must nick them from her and flog them

JanH · 18/10/2004 16:33

Haven't read whole thread so these may have been mentioned already but New Look have some lovely spotty ones. (Bit short though.) (And now I've said it I don't know if they were in the adults' or kids' section...!)

snmum · 18/10/2004 16:37

Im with zebra, my wellies are for walking the dogs, green 'normal' wellies, worn with a shabby floral dress and holey cardi

enid · 18/10/2004 16:52

I wear wellies every day for the school run (should be 'school walk' in our case) and going for walks - muddy lanes, fields etc. Have boring but expensive black Aigle wellies - really want some nice patterny ones but can't justify it. TopShop have some very nice short floral print ones.

BooMama · 18/10/2004 16:55

snmum - you sound very glam in a shabby chic style!!

mckenzie · 18/10/2004 19:56

well, I've just ordered some children's ones from Boden as they are soooo much cheaper that the ladies version. They dont look much different in the picture but we'll have to wait and see what they look like.

BooMama · 18/10/2004 20:05

Yes, I had a look at that - they go up to a 37 don't they? (although not much use to me, I'm a 39).
They do seem a bit large for children - had to buy my dd's wellies from M&S instead. The boy's wellies start at a sensible boy's size, I don't see why the girl's wellies have to be so big (other than to fit you, mckenzie!

Tissy · 18/10/2004 20:10

mine are khaki green and covered in horse-flop got them from the garden centre for about a tenner

btw I do NOT have a horse. Dd likes to go and feed the horseys carrits and happles at the weekend.

Davros · 18/10/2004 20:15

snmum is from a Flake advert!

mckenzie · 23/10/2004 12:09

my new wellies have arrived. Size 4 from the children's catalogue at Boden. They are a perfect fit (i'm usually a 37/38) And only £17.

cupcakes · 23/10/2004 12:55

Fantastic! What pattern did you get?

mckenzie · 23/10/2004 13:34

they're pink/red with mainly spots. DS thinks they're fab!

cupcakes · 23/10/2004 14:14

oh - they're the ones I like! But they're too small for me and too big for dd!

mckenzie · 23/10/2004 14:17

they do seem to come up really big. I shall have room for a very thick pair of socks. Just waiting for a Sky workman to call and then DS and I are going for a walk in the rain so that I can try them out.

Davros · 24/10/2004 22:28

I spied a shelf of funky wellies in a vile outlet in Camden market while driving through yeterday. Prob quite cheap but may not be quite PLU up close!
