A question for those of you who have bought DUO BOOTS...

How did you find the width fitting of the boots (across the foot not the calf!) I have quite wide feet. I actually do have some duo boots and they are fine but they are very soft so they have stretched a bit across the foot, the ones I am looking at to buy don't look very soft. Postage is £6.95 ish and you have to pay for returns so I don't want to order them and then find they don't fit .
Any words of wisdom from duo boot owners?

Mine were fine, but I have average-y width feet I think. Not much help sorry.

DANCESwithHughJackman · 30/09/2007 18:33

Thanks for replying! I've just spent a fruitless afternoon looking for boots, it's so depressing, I did the double whammy and was looking for jeans at the same time (dh had children)...don't even get me started on that topic

I have narrow feet, and I normally wear hiking socks with mine (they're also a half-size too big, so this makes them fit really well). I guess you aren't near any of the fitting rooms? There's one in Manchester now.

Tamum · 30/09/2007 18:36

We've got a new Duo boots shop up here, which is lovely for me but won't make you feel any better I suspect. If you want me to go in and see how soft a particular style is I will gladly do so though

WanderingTrolley · 30/09/2007 18:40

Mine are quite generous across the foot, and my feet are so wide they're almost square.

But then I have calves the size of a body builder's, so maybe the foot-width correlates with the calf width?

DANCESwithHughJackman · 30/09/2007 18:42

Ah thanks Tamum, that's so kind My nearest fitting room is Saville Row in London so I'd have to brave myself for a visit in to the city! Actually I don't know if I could face it with dc...I might ring them and see if they can give me any advice over the phone instead

I have feet like flippers and mine fit - in fact I have to put a woolen insole in mine (cue very very boring MI And Cold Feet rant); I think the sizing is quite generous. (I have mutantly small feet, though, like trotters.)

DANCESwithHughJackman · 30/09/2007 18:43

LOL wandertrolley! these are the ones I like

TROTTERS

OP posts:
motherinferior · 30/09/2007 18:44

Utterly divine.

I have fairly massive calves, which add to the trotter look

inamuckingfuddle · 30/09/2007 18:45

I have very wide size 8 feet and find duo a generous fit, I have 2 pairs now, jsut got the bern ones this week and they are fab

fishie · 30/09/2007 18:47

i've given up and gone for a size bigger in all shoes, with an insole if neccesary. i sent duo boots back last year for being too narrow on foot. i think they are wider than usual, but i have a v high instep too so only boots of a certain construction will work, no pull-ons for me as can't get my foot into the top.

DANCESwithHughJackman · 30/09/2007 18:47

OOh, the bern ones were my second choice...lovely

MI - do you paranoidly check dd's calves...I really hope dd hasn't inherited my calves poor soul.

motherinferior · 30/09/2007 18:48

So far, the Inferiorettes are wisps of things .

I suppose, really, that my feet are a cross between flippers and trotters. Floppers, perhaps, or trippers.

Tamum · 30/09/2007 18:48

Oooooh they're nice. I might have to go and try some on, purely in order to help you, you understand.

DANCESwithHughJackman · 30/09/2007 18:50

So have you successfully worn duo boots fishie? I have a friend who really struggles to find boots because of a high instep.

motherinferior · 30/09/2007 18:51

Tamum, you're so supportive

inamuckingfuddle · 30/09/2007 18:53

DTs have definitely inherited my big wide feet, poor things

Tamum · 30/09/2007 18:53

I am, aren't I

DANCESwithHughJackman · 30/09/2007 18:54

She really is, isn't she...what a giver

OP posts:
fishie · 30/09/2007 18:54

no, but i haven't got big calves so wasn't worth pursuing. i have got lovely ones from dr martens of all places. in brown only £85 from dm shop. they've got a nice zip up the inside ankle to allow massive arch in.

DANCESwithHughJackman · 30/09/2007 18:56

MI - lucky them! I can't tell with dd yet. She's always been quite a sturdy child (and baby) - not fat...she's starting to lose that now as she gets older so time will tell. MIL has great legs so I'm pinning my hope on that

OP posts:
DANCESwithHughJackman · 30/09/2007 18:57

Thanks fishie, I'll tell her...

OP posts:
WanderingTrolley · 30/09/2007 18:57

Ooh, they're nice.

lol motherinferior - perhaps one is a flopper, the other a tripper.

Please explain the wooden insoles - do you wear Scholls inside your footwear? (I am confused and intrigued - am I contrigued or infused?)

fishie · 30/09/2007 18:58

teehee. i believe it is woollen.
