Just about to do my first order and just wanted to check that it is as good as everyone says - I mean has anyone had any problems returning stuff etc. Thanks

Have ordered a couple of times and never had any problems - but have never had to return anything either so not sure about that bit. I usually only order stuff in the sales which they have frequently and therefore even paying quite a bit for the postage makes it very good value. Also really like the quality and the stuff lasts really well. Because they also send the stuff in bulk to Germany and your order then comes from there, you also get away without paying customs duties - although don't know if this has been just luck on my part so far!

gymboree are closing down all their stores in the UK and have everything reduced. Is there one near you? Closing down end of Nov.

Skate · 14/10/2004 11:57

One in the Trafford Centre in Manchester if anyone's interested.

BooMama · 14/10/2004 12:06

I have only ordered once from the US but it was a success. I don't know about returns though. It said that you can only return to a US store or by post. I have found in the past that their clothes came up a bit on the small size so I ordered the next size up so as not to have to worry about returns. That said the size 2 dress I bought for my 20 month dd is still hanging up unworn as it's a little too roomy...

marialuisa · 14/10/2004 13:27

bea · 14/10/2004 13:59

where do you buy online?

thanks

KateandtheGirls · 14/10/2004 14:00

Gymboree.com

Katherine · 14/10/2004 18:37

What they are closing down in the UK? Sob sob. Thats TERRIBLE news!

jenkel · 14/10/2004 21:48

According to staff in the Watford branch, something to do with the strong pound, just not making money in the UK. However, I can recomment Gymboree.com, they are fairly quick at delivery and the prices are not over the top once you have done the currency conversion even with postage on top. I have ordered 3 times and as yet have not had to pay any customs duties. And check out another Gymboree company, Janie & Jack - gorgeous clothes.

BooMama · 17/10/2004 13:58

Has anyone been able to combine a Gymboree order with Janie and Jack. I don't think it's possible but it would save on postage if there were things I wanted from both sites...

jenkel · 17/10/2004 20:42

No I have never tried that BooMama but would save money and I'm sure it comes from the same place. May be worth sending them an email, but probably wont be able too as everything is automated nowadays.

Crockster · 22/10/2004 15:18

I cannot believe they are closing all the UK Gymboree's. I love this shop! I live in Norwich and they used to have one here, then it closed down suddenly about 2 years ago, then I used to have to travel to Cambridge to the one there, but surprise surprise that closed last year, I am making a specific trip to Bluewater to go to Gymboree next Saturday so I just hope they have some decent stuff left! (Or that it is still open)

marialuisa · 22/10/2004 15:38

Should be open until nov 15th so probably not much lft but what's there will be mega cheap!

cupcakes · 22/10/2004 15:44

(formerly boomama..!)
Hey Crockster - you are me! I too used to live in Norwich and bought all my ds's clothes there. Then had to travel to Cambridge (not too bad as my parents live there). Have just remembered I am going to visit a friend in Kent next weekend so can stop at Gymboree at Bluewater too!
Recommend the website though - the exchange rate is really good at the moment and postage for (I think) goods under $100 is $10 which is only about £6.00.

lulupop · 22/10/2004 18:52

Crockster, don't bother travelling all that way! I live half an hour from Bluewater and go quite a lot, but I have to say that for the last 6 weeks it has been really scrappy in Gymboree there. I have a toddler son and baby daughter and have;t found anything nice for either of them at Bluewater Gymboree since the summer. Also, I keep expecting to find that all the stuff's super super cheap, but actually they haven't reduced it (so far) any more than the normal cheapest sale price)

Gutted they're going too, will have to familiarise myself with the website.

IlanaK · 22/10/2004 19:08

lulupop - I have to disagree with you. I was at the one in Bluewater last week and found lots more than at my local one (Regent's ST). I got lovely stuff for my baby boy. The older boys collection (I have a 3 year old) was heavily reduced (50%), but I liked very little of it. Its really bright orange and surfy colours - not my style at all, but it was cheap. The one in Regent's St has very little boys stuff left at all.

The christmas baby collection is stunning. It was only reduced to 20 or 30 percent off when I went, but if it goes down further, I will snap it up - really gorgeous!

lulupop · 22/10/2004 21:26

OK take it back then. You are prob right - my boy is nearly 3 and all the stuff that age is vile neon disgustingness. Am just disappointed the baby girl stuff hasn;t been that gd either. However have to go to BWater next week for something else so will pop in to see this new Chrimbo stuff. Thought they wouldn;t be getting any new stock.

nutcracker · 22/10/2004 21:33

Anyone know how long the online sale is on for ???

Crockster · 23/10/2004 20:05

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I am still going to Bluewater as I managed to bag a room at Dartford Travelinn for £25! I have a baby boy of 11 months (but is quite big for his age) and a girl aged 6. Does anyone know if they have any stuff left for this age group

cupcakes · 25/10/2004 11:20

Hello crockster! We are hopefully still going there on Friday - I am shopping for my dd and older boy so I won't clear the rails out!
Have a look on the website if you want an idea of what the current collection looks like.

Crockster · 25/10/2004 12:28

Hi Cupcakes. Thanks for that. Hope your dd is ok after last night.

cupcakes · 25/10/2004 12:33

Thanks - she slept right through once she finally went to sleep (about 10.30) but this morning she was just as tearful about her nap. Stayed in her cot for 2 hours but would not lie down or go to sleep. Have given up on nap for today. Am now a bit unsure about going away this weekend if she's so unsettled. But I NEED to go to Bluewater!

Crockster · 25/10/2004 23:44

Hi Cupcakes. Maybe thats the answer to cut out the nap and then she will be so sleepy she will be glad to go to bed. My friend's dd stopped having naps at 18mths. I am dreading my ds waking the whole Travelodge up with his screaming on Sat night, but looking forward to Bluewater (for Gymboree of course!) also going to Ikea on Sun for my dd as she loves the ball pit. How far away are you from Bluewater?

Crockster · 25/10/2004 23:49

Sorry Cupcakes another quick query - Have you ever tried the Creche at Bluewater? I am never very sure about putting my dd in these places but she loves them as I feel its like you can't be bothered to look after them!

cupcakes · 26/10/2004 08:36

Hi Crockster - have never tried the creche. Don't think it would work for dd at the momnt as she's being rather clingy..!! And ds likes the shops too much!
We live in South Norfolk so have only ever been to Bluewater twice - once on a trip over the bridge from Ikea and once when visiting friend in Canterbury which is where we are going this weekend.
Am going to try her nap again this am - she didn't sleep for 12 hours yesterday but still wasn't fantastic at bedtime.
