Need a long, properly waterproof raincoat to wear over me and DD in sling. Pref quite light. Seen anything nice?

Ah. The problems of babywearing in bad weather. Not sure it's what you're looking for, but I now use a combo of DD in waterproofs, me in waterproofs and umbrella when required, accepting that the sling will get soggy. I've got a babywearing coat but it's for the cold really. You can get kindercoat waterproof ponchos but they're not that sexy. How old is your DD? And are you front or back carrying? I borrowed DPs coat for much of last autumn when DD was 4-6 months old, worked just fine apart from a bit of water down the cleavage...

Was wondering to myself why umbrella hats had never caught on...

She's 3 months old and so in front. My walking jacket works but is a bit short, and really I'd like something more "city" iyswim. What's a babywearing coat? DP only has a walking jackety type thing too, and wears it, so no good there.

Have a look here:

which is what I've got, but as I said it's not quite so brilliant in the pouring rain, will last a shower though. It's pretty warm, as it's a thin fleecy material. Takes a bit of practice getting in and out. And probably only worth the cash if you carry on a very regular basis, although they do come up second hand from time to time.

That reminds me, I do use a brolly when it's just drizzling, although DD is constantly trying to grab it which is both annoying and hazardous to passing pedestrians.

how about a drizabone ? for the outback look...

It's a bit weird putting it on with the zip at the back, but once you've mastered the technique without strangling the baby it's a piece of cake!
