Gifts for 8/9 year old girls... help!

RubberDuck · 27/09/2007 15:06

It's my niece's birthday coming up and I haven't a clue what to get her. I have two boys and seem completely out of touch over what (older) girls seem to be playing with.

So what "cool" toy can I get an 8 (9? really must check) girl that's easily post-able?

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Well the obviously easiest would probably be a Claire's Accessories voucher or similar. Would you ideally prefer an actual present to choose and wrap?

Claire's Accessories voucher

bozza · 27/09/2007 15:08

Aha cod see I said the other day that I was agreeing with you rather a lot....

bozza · 27/09/2007 15:09

Actually my 3yo DDwould think that was a fantastic present as well.

I think I'd prefer something to wrap, but won't rule a voucher out... I like the look of that girl tech thing... hmm, wonder if our local entertainer stocks it...

Thank you Any other ideas?

How much to spend? How girly is she?

Marne · 27/09/2007 15:19

I bought the girl tech thing from our loccal store 2 days ago for dsd for her birthday, they also have pixel chick house for £9.99 in store.

Clare's Accessories voucher wrapped in a nice silk-style scarf

Fimbo · 27/09/2007 15:33

Anything to do with High School Musical (New Look have pencil cases/purses etc).

Nice top from Next, they have several which are around the £5 mark? They also had packs of 3 belts for £5 in different colours and with fun buckles.

Probably around the £10-£15 mark. She's pretty girly (side effect of having two younger brothers ). Her parents are quite techy so I like the idea of pixel chicks/girl tech... but also swayed by the whole Clare's Accessory thing... Also wondered about those mini "make your own Teddy" kits whether they'd be a bit too difficult for her age group or whether they just wouldn't be "cool" enough.

To be fair, I just don't see her regularly enough to know just the thing she'd love. But would like to fake the "cool auntie" thing for at least another year or two

Just a quick update to say thanks - have found that girl tech diary in our local entertainer and have got that
