Look for a young male assistant, they seem to be more free and easy about refunds. Don't know why.

Erm, that's what I did when I went through my 'changing the buggies when there's nothing wrong with them' stage . Maybe it's because it's not their money .

Definitely the weekend when the students are working - they may check with the manager but if the store is busy you are more likely to get your way. They won't want you kicking off in a store full of people!

well went in tonite, showed them the back of the instruction book which says about the argos 1 year garuntee, and doesnt mention a receipt or proof of purchase...

she said she needed exact time date and till used to proove my purchase.....

i was so peed off couldnt bear to carry heavy microwave back to car with 2 kids in tow, so asked them to dispose of it....now i cant even buy a new one and but old one in box and return with new receipt....

Oh Tottie... I would write a complaint letter to their Head Office, that is terrible treatment!

cocolepew · 26/09/2007 13:20

I would complain as well.

NAB3 · 26/09/2007 13:29

Don't leave it there. Def ring HO.

FWIW I have envelopes with shop names on the front and put receipts in each one so I can find them should I need them.

Obviously I currently can't find the receipt I need to get a new raincover.

Tottie32 · 26/09/2007 20:29

will def write to head office - i am calmer now!!!

they will prob send it back now and get money back for it.......

i have always thought since my days on m & s refund desk that if something was faulty you didnt need a receipt. thats why people shop lift and then damage goods as they are entitled to money back even with no receipt, if not damaged and no receipt it was credit note...

hope you find receipt for rain cover

i will be more careful in future

I have worked on Tesco Customer Service Desk and their policy is to replace as long as Tesco (any store) stocked the item. You can't give a refund without a receipt but you can certainly exchange.

Hope you get a good result from your letter - definitely write it though!

Tottie32 · 28/09/2007 16:20

thanks

letter has been writen which is quite impressive, as i am one of those people who say ' thats it i am writting to complain but then never get round to it,
letter is stamped and ready to go to the post office
