Can anyone recommend a really slimline dishwasher. I really need it to be maximum depth of 45cm. Looked on Argos with no luck.

TIA Blossomhill

Hi, Funny I was looking for the exact same thing today. DH found one at tescos. It was called a table top dishwasher and looked abit wee. wee dishwashers . Let me know if you find anything better.

JanH · 10/10/2004 20:44

Depth 45cm, blossomhill? Lots are 45 wide but I think they're all 60 deep (even the smallest tabletop one from pesme's link is 48 deep).

poppyseed · 10/10/2004 21:12

We had a Bosch one that was really good - 45 wide and 60 deep to fit under a standard worktop.

blossomhill · 10/10/2004 21:53

I had my SIL over today and she couldn't believe that 1 - I didn't have a tumble dryer and 2 - no dishwasher.
Decided that I agree so dh has to dig deep

Our slimline dishwasher is standard depth I'm afraid. It's a Beaumatic one and very good.

blossomhill · 10/10/2004 21:57

We could have a standar 60 depth but will mean a bit of readjusting. Oh well, will have to do that.
How much can you get into a slimline one or is it worth losing space for a bog standard size?

JanH · 10/10/2004 21:58

Depends how much space you have to start with, bh...how many of you are there?

blossomhill · 10/10/2004 22:00

JanH - 4 in total. 2 kids are at school so don't have much stuff during the day.

Had a slim line one once with it was narrow rather than shallow, a Zannusi

Hulababy · 10/10/2004 22:01

There is me, DH and 2.5yo DD in our family and it easily deals with our daily washing up. We only have to pout it on once a day. However if we do a big meal when have vistors round - lots of pans, etc. - then it tends to have to go on twice.

So, on the whole, for daily use we find a slimline model plenty big enough.

However, be warned. Slimline dishwashers are often dearer than normal sized ones!

blossomhill · 10/10/2004 22:01

hmb - was it any good?

Have a look at these on Comet. They all take 8 or 9 place settings and full-size ones take 12 I think (maybe 14...?) Table-top ones only take 4 or 5.

Hulababy · 10/10/2004 22:03

Our slimline one is also just narrow, not more shallow.

Yes, it was. At the time we had a tiny kitchen and no kids. It was just right for the two of us. Now we are 4 it would have filled up too quickly, unless you kept it for plates etc and did the pans separatly. I try not to run the dishwasher more than once a day.

PuffTheMagicDragon · 10/10/2004 22:05

My sister has a slimline Bosch dishwasher - really good and fine for family of 4 (2 children age 11).

blossomhill · 10/10/2004 22:07

hmb - that's what I would want, to not run it more than once. I am sick of doing small piles of washing up. It is sooooo tedious. I also have to use surcare as fairy makes my hands red raw!

hmb · 10/10/2004 22:09

I would def get one if you can't fit in a full size one. I'd rather a big one (oh missus), but better a littl'un than none

blossomhill · 10/10/2004 22:11

hmb - I think the slimline one is the better option in our kitchen. Otherwise it will mean a lot of jiggling around and expense.
Now I have to find a small tumbledryer! Sick of relying on the good old British weather to dry it all for me!

Get a washer dryer. I know that the dryer isn't as good as a 'dedicated' one, but if you are stuck for space they are great. We have one (also a zannusi!) and it is the dog's doodahs. The washer limits the amount of water it uses depending on the load, which is great for us as we are on a water meter.

I use the line when I can but the dryer is great when youare stuck.

SofiaAmes · 10/10/2004 22:41

I know that ikea have one (made by whirlpool I think especially for them), but i'm not sure exactly how slim. Look on their website.
