Bath seat for a tiddler

DS is 4 months and sitting independently, and I need to get him a bath seat, but he's very diddy (skinny, long, and light) and a lot of bath seats just seem like they'd be enormous for him and not really help him feel more secure in the bath. He is an anxious soul anyway so is easily spooked by the odd jiggle in the water, even when I'm holding him!

Any recommendations?

Bath with him if it's a possibility.

Mine is also skinny, he loved the Safety 1st swivel seat. After 7 months then he was very happy to go without as he was crawling at that point and crawled up and down the bath, with a nonslip mat.

Pickles89 · 07/05/2020 10:08

How have you bathed him thus far? Can't you keep doing that for the next couple of months?

geojellyfish · 07/05/2020 10:12

We just used a non-slip bath mat once ours were sitting.

He's been in the baby bath but is a twin so it'd be much easier with a seat as it means I can do them both at once. Sorry, should have mentioned that! I never needed one with my older DCs as they were singletons (and one of them enjoyed the thrill of flinging herself under the water Grin )

I'll look into the safety first one. Thank you!

Well, I suppose you could line a bath seat with a hand towel, so it's not in the least 'slippy' and more comfortable behind his back. I don't know how you could safely bathe them both at once, if you're alone though, as when you lift one out and dry him/dress him, what about the twin still in the bath? You can't take your eyes off even for a second - my sister nearly drowned when my mum turned round to pick up her towel!

I had something called an aquapod duo for my twins, it was from mothercare. Not sure if you can still get it but it was a godsend to get them both in the bath at once.

Spanneroo · 07/05/2020 13:09

@inwood I'll see if I can find one of those! Thank you for the suggestion

We've just bought the angel care bath seat. It's been a great success with DS2 who is 7 months.

Spanneroo · 07/05/2020 19:25

@Pickles89 I'd lift baby 1 out of the bath and straight into a towel on the floor, then immediately turn around and get baby 2 and dry/change them both together. This is largely what I do now, only the babies have to wait for the duration of the bath for the other baby. If I bathe them together, I'm happy with the risk level of 3 seconds while they're in a bath seat right beside me. Appreciate the concern, though!

@BillyandtheSillies that looks really good - do they hover off the bottom of the bath or is the seat flush to the bottom IYSWIM?

@Spanneroo the seat sits about an inch or two off the bottom of the bath but the material isn't solid plastic so the water is permanently on them. The legs have suction to stick to the bottom of the bath.

We started him off in the Angel care bed bath, which he loved as the mesh meant he was always wet and warm, and would happily sit kicking away for half an hour while I showered from a newborn.
But now he's sitting up, he'd started kicking himself up and out of it!

Spanneroo · 07/05/2020 20:28

@BillyandtheSillies that sounds perfect. We have been using the shnuggle, which I found works well as it's always quite deep for them compared to a standard baby bath. Guess it's the same principal, just with mesh to let the water through. Thank you for your help!
