it seems a bit late to spend the money on a 0-6 month one, if I buy a 6-18mth one would I get away with using it right away or will it be way too big? He´s about 7kgs but quite long, about 67cms?

we've been using ours since she was the same age and dd is on the 75th percentile so I'd say you'd be ok, 0-6 prob a bit small already

I've found that the official gro-bag ones are much more generous than others such as mothercare, supermarket own brand etc. My DS is pretty big 14 monther and he's still got quite a lot of room for manouver in his 6-18 month one. When he was your DS's age I think he was in a 6-12 month one that we got from Sainsburys (so not a gro-bag) it had poppers down the front and lasted him until he started wearing a summer 6-18 month one. ahem, hides head in shame, dd is in a 2.5 tog but also spends half the night half under my duvet so is probably in a 12 tog or something like that. don't tell anyone. i would have her in a 2.5 tog but with fleecy sleepsuit in winter and then keep the 2.5 tog for most of the year but just adjust the clothing underneath from non at all up to warm and woolly. but i do tend to feel the cold at night so that's probably why
we did the same as maewest, sainsbury's for the inbetween months, but you don't have to it's just i was given one

We've had a summer one (1 tog) for when it's been really warm (think our house is quite hot, and we are in the mild mild west) and I'm still using this for daytime naps. At night DS is now sleeping in a 2.5 tog with a long sleeve vest. Will prob go to a vest and pyjamas soon as it's getting a bit cooler.

hmmm.. so I should go for a 2.5 tog then? I live in Spain so that would be too hot right now but when winter does arrive the houses are quite cold due to no central heating (brrrrrr)..

I am using a 1 tog on my lo along with an all in one sleepsuit and ds's room is around 20-23 degrees.

In the winter I will move him to a 2.5tog with a poppered bodysuit under the sleepsuit or pyjamas.

Bumpto3 gives info on sizes, tog ratings, clothing to wear, etc
