I bought dd (16 months) a big jar of letters from Morrisons that only cost a couple of pounds. They are colourful and made of foam and when they get wet they stick to the side of the bath. She absolutely loves them and doesn't play with any of her other bath toys now. She used to quite dislike a bath but now asks to go just so she can get her hands on her letters! It says they are only suitable for children aged three and over as they are made of foam and younger children could bite bits off, but when they're in the bath they are supervised 100% anyway. She is also learning with them and makes the letter sounds.

my dd plays with a bath book I brought from Mothercare, the typical yellow rubber duckies and a hippo that was brought from Early Learning Centre that has googly eyes and squirts out water and can spin on its tummy if its on the floor. she also has some whales that are suppose to squirt water but they dont work but she likes to play with them anyway lol

Bath letters are great - ds knew most of the alphabet by 18 months .

Also someone bought dd a fimble bath island toy which is quite often played with.

We have a tub of bath letters which DD enjoys. Supergrug sells lower case letters - big tub - very cheap. Mothercare and Boots ones are capital letters for some reason???

Boots sell some Fimbles bath crayons, which DD got last week. She thinks they are great and spends ages in the bath with them.

A sealed doll, suitable for a bath, is one of her favourite's too. She spends ages washing baby, shampooing her hair, and cleaning her teeth.

We also then have some little bits for the bath, many from Asda:

  • a watering can - less than £1
  • toy boat
  • duck - on special offer from Boots at £1.50

I'd avoid anything that needs suckers to attch to bath though. After a while the suckers stop working and go that horrible black colour

Old shampoo/baby bath bottles and an old Christmas pudding tub! He just pours water from one to the other, makes cups of tea and cooks food in the tub etc etc.

Of the ones we've paid for, he likes bath books and the squirty ones from ELC, the M&S fishing game (with net and rod to catch fish) and toy boats.

Agree with hulababy about the suckers - in fact none of ours ever even stick.

ds (nearly 3) is also just getting interested in the foam bath letters (bought in Tescos).

dd1 ate bits of our letters and she still plays with the 90p plastic stacking cups from ikea in the bath. also fan of the empty shampoo bottles.

Ds1's favourite bath toys are mummy's pantene shampoo and daddy's lynx shower gel along with anything else he can get his hands on. He mixes up potions in a jug while I'm putting washing away. BTW, I only leave him unattended in the bath because he's nearly six and has his own theme tune for everything he does. So you can hear him all the time.
