Leap Pads or Jolly Phonics

DD's 3 in a couple of weeks and loves books - us reading to her, her "reading" to dolly. I know some of you have experience of these, so which would be a better birthday present. TIA,
Bear

I would go for the Leap Pad. DS (4 next week!)has had one for about 6 months or so and it really has improved his reading. The best book that we have is a Thomas the Tank Engine one which is highly popular (and read in the correct accent!). I havent tried the maths books or science ones yet but have nothing but praise for the general reading and pre-reading books we have bought so far.

I vote for Leap Pad, but it's more on a Political lever. When they became successful, Fisher price decided they wanted to eliminate competition and tried to muscle them out of the educational toy market (forgotten what the tactics were, sorry). But, because of it, I always support the little guy. We have every Leapfrog product there is for a child under 18 months. I like them. Although, as I am American, I'm not bothered by the American accent.

I would go with jolly phonics. We brough dd (4) a leap pad for christmas last year and she never used it. Her school are using jolly phonics and she is loving it!!!
Wish i'd brought them at christmas now as she'd be 9 months ahead of everyone else in her class.

Jolly phonics - the finger phonics books are great. DD (who is 2) loves tracing the letters and looking at all the pictures and doing the actions (although we ony have the 1st one).
