Okay so this has been going on for well over 3 months now, I have a Ford focus estate 2006 plate, I use it alot for work.

Just before Christmas I noticed that when pulling away it was very weak and within a week it stalled and just would not start. It turned over but would then just die, no dash board warning lights , no nothing.

So I get it to my mechanic who changes the battery as mine was ancient, the fuel filter and fuel pump, code says low fuel pressure. Perfect I thought, car works for about 2 weeks and then same thing, I go to start it and it just turns over and dies. Mechanic comes out again and says it could be one of the sensors for one reason or another. He said there are no codes when he plugged in his diagnostics.

Again, works fine then 5 days later same thing has happened ughhh! It will start after about 10 mins if I leave it be, it normally won't start when the car has not been driven for a few hours. It is also intermittent, it won't start one morning then will run fine for a few days and then does the same thing, he's coming out to me next week but I need this car for work and have spent alot on repairs already so am kind of committed , if there are any mechanics put there pleeeaasssee help me :'(

Does it just click when you try to start it & it won't start? Might be the starter motor?

The whole car vibrates and it sounds like it's starting but then just dies

It definitely sounds like a fuel issue. Unfortunately if the fuel pump has already been replaced you could be getting into a full fuel system issue which really would be an uneconomical repair on a car of that age. Ignore the money you've already spent, you're throwing good money after bad at this point.

If you can borrow a car from someone who isn't using theirs at the moment or buy a cheap runaround (check the mot history online for an indication of condition) if that's even possible right now I think that would be your best course of action.

Agreed it sounds like a fuel issue. Is it diesel? If so it sounds like air in the fuel line - the fuel line works under negative pressure so will let air in rather than fuel out if there is a leak. If the line was properly primed after replacing the pump and filters then it would have worked for a while until the leak let enough air in again.

I've already spend 700 on it so really need to run it in to the ground, I can't afford to just get a run around car as I drive to clients houses sometimes 10 times a day so it wouldn't withstand the mileage and I can't get a better Car, it is indeed diesel, the fuel pump put in was second hand not brand new if that makes a difference, it's driving fine again for me today but no doubt will probably not start in a few days time, it can then take me 5 to 15 mins for it to start properly

Fuel pump could be sticking? Get a fuel flush treatment (redex or similar) from a fuel station and put it in with a full tank of fuel. See if it makes any difference.

I have already put a shot of that stuff in about 2 weeks ago and it hasn't made any difference 😭
