Sorry nightowl, bit confused by your post. Do you mean you want to buy a printer to print your digital photos on at home, or do you want to work out which is the best digital printing service?

I do both, i.e. we have an HP 2210 (3-in-1) printer, which prints off excellent photos. You view them first by uploading them to the viewing softward on your computer, where you can do any editing before printing. Or you can just put the cameras little memory card directly into the printer and print that way (but no editing obviously). However, I have found that once you factor in the high cost of photo paper and ink cartridges for the printer, it is actually cheaper and a lot less hassle to get them done commercially. I use Boots as they're only 10p a print, whihc is very cheap even compared with some of the online services.

You can save money by getting ink cartridges refilled, but even so, it's cheaper to print photos in bulk commerically. I find we now just use the home printer for enlargements, and when we want the odd print here and there.

I bought one, a epsom printer but have only printed 3 photos and it has already run out of ink. I would recommend not getting one as it is far cheaper to use a photo developing shop.

We use 'epsomstylus PHOTO 895' and find its great, agree it does run out of ink quickly when doing photos but the quality is superb. You view your photos on screen or via the epsom view screen and choose there which ones to print. Got ours from PC World.

I read something the other ady that said that home printing (when you add in the cost of paper and ink) works out at a minimum of 29p for photo.
Id been thinking of buying a printer for my pics but made me realise that its actually cheaper to get them done commercially.
