My carpets (especially the downstairs hall) smells of sweaty feet when i hoover. Hmmmm nice image that must conjure up

Want to get something to put in my hoover to make carpets smell nice. Have seen Glade Drop in Vac, but not sure if I can use it in a Dyson. Anyone know ?

I refuse to Shake & Vac so anyone have any other Kim and Aggie type tips to make my carpet smell sweet ??

well I'm completely sober
copied from the how clean is your house website how to freshen and deodorise a carpet

How to: For general deodorising, we advise using homemade carpet deodorizer on a monthly basis, or as needed. The carpet should be treated in the evening and left overnight. Mix the following ingredients:
1/2 cup baking soda (bicarbonate of soda) 1/2 cup cornflower 15 drops of your favourite essential oil fragrance
Work the mixture into the carpet with a stiff brush, leave and vacuum the following day.

littlemissbossy, thank you. Sounds very sensible.
Coddy could have been posting on the wrong thread for all I knew

Yep Bicarb is the best thing to use so a Pissed Coddy is better than no coddy at all!!

You could try Febreeze too - I spray it in DPs trainers and all over his golf bag which smells like a dead cat is in there!! (and yes he is obsessed with golf!!)

Kayleigh · 05/10/2004 16:23

Euuugh, hate the smell of Febreeze. Have to use it on curtains etc after my MIL has been as she smokes, and although she doesn't do it in the house it always smells smokey after she goes. Used to febreze soafas too but now have posh leather ones so just wipe over with a furniture wipe (or more often than not, a baby wipe!!)
