How frequently do you put air in your tyres?

I remember my driving instructor saying to check tyres every 2 weeks. Do people actually do this?

There's a set of checks you should do weekly and before long journeys.

FLOWER:

Fuel
Lights
Oil
Water (coolant and other fluids)
Electrics (battery levels, unless it's a sealed battery)
Rubber

Full disclosure: Although I know I should do them weekly, I've got a bit lax.

My tyre pressure gauge seems utterly batshit. It will sometimes tell me my tyre is flat. Then if I turn the car off and on it's at 29.

I check them every time I drive the car as they get displayed on the dash every time I turn the ignition on.

My husband checks them manually every couple of weeks and adds air, if necessary. I also carry an electric tyre pump in the boot after coming back to a low tyre pressure warning at midnight after leaving the car in an airport car park while on holiday.

Check the car over weekly. Tyre pressure, oil , washy and coolant. I also service it myself. I have an engineering degree. Helps if you run an old Jaguar.

If it makes anyone feel better I can check mine from the car computer - I've only needed to top up once in a whole year so I'm sure you're all fine 👍🏻

Once a year is not a good interval to check tyres. They will deflate at different rates depending on a number of factors. Katie, thats good news your have nicely seated tyres that do not leak air that much and a computer in the car to check, but its not a precedent for everyone else. Tyres go down for all manner of reasons from badly seated tyres, to kerbed wheels to leaking valves.

Remember, tyres are keeping you safe, keeping your from crashing a car with your loved ones inside. If you check anything, check the tyres :-)

I haven’t checked mine since January Confused
