I was inspired by the mumsnet tip on getting a mini vacuum cleaner. But which one? Dry stuff only or wet and dry? Dirt buster, dust buster, dirt devil ... help!

The most powerful one you can find....I couldn't live without mine and use it about twice a day.

I think its a dust buster.

I have a Black & Decker Dustbuster (from Peter Jones), and it's great. Mainly use it for cleaning up under the table after meals, and in the kitchen in between sweeping/mopping sessions. Would highly recommend it as a simple/easy way of keeping the floors tolerable.

ok sounds good, BUT argos have three different models and I don't know if the most basic is ok or whether I need to spend lots more money

We've go tthe Black and decker dustbuster too. It cost us £39.99 (£10 off) and it's the 9.2V model. It's great to use under the table after meals and although I've only had it a couple of weeks I wonder how I managed before tbh!! Ours is way powerful enough for us as we're sucking the food up off laminate, but I know they do a more powerful one that's new out. (hence us getting 10 quid off ours)

Mine is the 9.6, but it's several years old and I don't know anything about the new models. I'd second the thought that more powerful is better.

What, only twice a day, Eve? But children eat at least 3-4-5 times a day, plus find the most wonderful things to make a mess of!

We've got the B&D 4.8 (which I thought was top-of-the-range?), and it can pick up liquids too. Even so, its suction is not enormously strong, so I imagine that the weaker ones would be, well, weaker!

Tchibo are doing one for £14.99 at the moment - has anyone bought one and if so are they any good?
