LIDL - what's worth buying and what's a load of old tosh?

I'm reviewing how much we spend on food at the moment as it seems to be a crazy amount for just me, DH, and DD. My nearest cheapo supermarket is Lidl. I've yet to venture in. Is it worth bothering, and if so, what are the real gems? Ta!

Have to do some of the food shop here as DP loves the German meats and pickles - I went under sufference the first time (food shop snob) but picked up a load of goodies and I was VERY (pleasantly) surprised.

Highlights were Christmas lebkuchen which were a quid, been paying a fortune from them from M&S for years.

BUT take a torch as the whole shop seems to be lit from 1 40 watt lightbulb!

I keep on thinking of new things: their Bourbon vanilla ice cream is very good.

So is ther pesto, multipack of French lager, dried cat food....

Their Chef Select Bami Goreng noodles are a firm favourite here. Huge amount of tasty noodles, ham, leeks and egg, easy to reheat in a wok and a valuable quick and easy meal either on their own or as a side dish. We also add various bits and pieces such as left over chicken or roast meats, chilli flakes etc and the results are great.
There's also a fried rice dish in the same section of the fridge but it's not as satisfying for the kids, who like to slurp the noodles!
