Am I going to regret buying DS (6) a cabin bed or high sleeper?

Whadya think? Are they fab and make the most of a small space or do they close a small room in and make feel smaller?

Opinions please, ta everso.

We got DS a cabin bed - fab for chucking stuff under, drawing the curtains and forgetting about it. I'd suggest maybe not getting a high sleeper - a friend of mine got one for her son, and said it was a nightmare putting on sheets etc. You have to climb the ladder to make to bed - not easy

I thought that, about the bed making bit. Knackering!

I don't want a dumping ground though underneath and I know it will become that! I want floorspace so he can get out all the cars and garage and dinosaurs and whatever.

Our dd has a high sleeper and she loves it, she's got more floor space but it does close the room in a bit I think. She has a futon chair under it too.

I use fitted sheets and the duvet just sits in a heap in the middle of the bed

Take your ds to MFI and see if he likes sleeping high up!

Great for space. Pants for bed changing but at least you can't see up there when its a mess. We keep cut chunks off the legs to make it easier.

Still think they are good though so overall positive. I am only an ickle person though bigger DH has problems getting up there [snigger]

just hope they don't fall out of bed

the thing i didnt like about my sons bunk (midi sleeper) was it was difficult giving him a kiss goodnight and snuggling up for a chat/story was impossible

DS has had a mid sleeper since he came out of a cot. Initially because he had a tiny room, but now h has a 20' room he still wants it (age 12).

Get one that takes STANDARD size mattresses so you don't have to pay extra for mattress (some are odd sizes).

Only prob we ever had was when he broke his leg & couldn't get up the ladder!

babyboo, I was thinking about that too. We sit in his bed do his spellings every night and have a story. Don't fancy sitting on the floor much. Maybe I'll get some bean bags or something. Lots to consider. Thanks for replies.

I climb up onto the bed along with the cat and do stories up there - and we used the futon chair as a bed when she was poorly a while back.

As a kid I'd have loved one
