I keep hearing people talking about doidy Cups (on here not much in RL) - what are they? Where can I get one? What age are they from?

Thanks

I'm thinking of trying one of these. I've seen them in John Lewis I think. Ds doesn't seem to be getting the point of lidded cups but can drink out of an open cup if I hold it for him.

I think the USP is that it's slanted so that they can see the contents without having to tip it so far and thus less chance of tipping it all over their head.

Would be interested to know how people who've used them have got on. Ds is 9mo.

my dd is 6.5 months - is doing ok with spout cup but not really taking much from it. Just tried water so far but back at work next week and so far she wont really take a bottle so was wondering if mayb she'll take milk from one of these.

I bought a doidy cup when dd was about 10 months. She was drinking from a spout cup from 6 months so thought I'd give it a try. It was too messy at the time but she is 15 months now and drinks her milk from it every morning. She can manage really well with it but occasionally she gets a bit excited and starts waving it around. I think the slanted top does make a big difference because with an ordinary cup she always tips it too much and endes up choking and spluttering.

I got 1 from hv for ds1 at 8 month check. It was useless imo. They will learn to drink out of a cup when they're ready and it really doesn't make it significantly easier. Also they are sooo bright you can't see the drink unless its milk. I didn't bother with it for dd so don't have vast experience.

Like spin I use a doidy sometimes (but mostly tommy tippee). If DS (13 months) is thirsty and in the mood he will skillfully drink from the doidy. If he's not in the mood he will blow bubbles in it and then up end it - so we only give him water in it. They're not expensive (I got mine online from NCT, but are elsewhere) so think worth a try, IMHO
