I need a 22 carat gold plain wedding ring. Can someone please help me find one for less than £400

which is what I've been quoted by a local jeweller . Ring size is leading edge M (whatever that means) band is 4mm and it is flat. I can't believe £400 is what I'll have to pay I would rather buy from a jeweller that I've heard of if poss. - not asking for much you understand

wedding ring direct, look it up on google, there are quite a few on line that are much cheaper than the high street presumably as you're buying direct?

DANCESwithDumbledore · 31/08/2007 17:45

I've done the google thing but I've never heard of the companies - I was worried about the purity of the gold - sounds poncy but it's actually because I'm allergic to the alloys in 18 carat gold.

I think by law stuff has to be hallmarked??? Just email the company and check, you may even find one near you IYSWIM Hallmarking is done by somewhere independent not the company that makes/sells it

I've used this company for 22ct gold, they are very friendly and helpful and the gold is great, might be worth a look, or email them, don't have time to look through right now.

chopster · 31/08/2007 17:49

and the jewellery I have from them is hallmarked.

Nbg · 31/08/2007 17:51

I dont think you'll get a 22ct wedding band for under £400 from a high street jeweller.

what about some of these?

MrsBadger · 31/08/2007 17:51

truly flat or flat court?
what width?
[cracks knuckles]

whatever the company is, if it's sold and hallmarked as 22ct it will be 22ct.

MrsBadger · 31/08/2007 17:55

have got it down to £110 for a 4mm one...

DANCESwithDumbledore · 31/08/2007 17:56

Bring it on Mrs B!

If you click on nbg's link, second row down, middle ring.

from these people

NB we used Bands of Love for our wedding rings and they were fine

DANCESwithDumbledore · 31/08/2007 17:59

See now how is my highstreet jeweller saying £400 and yet online is £110? It does worry me a bit!

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 31/08/2007 18:05

because the high st jeweller has a shop and staff and overheads
and the website doesn't

MrsBadger · 31/08/2007 18:07

we had the same dilemma for DH's enormous, wide platinum ring - quoted £2k on the high st, £800 online
truly, tis fine

CarGirl · 31/08/2007 18:09

same here the difference between on-line and reatil was absolutel huge plus I have tiny fingers so there was so little choice on the high street (actually only plain bands!)

DANCESwithDumbledore · 31/08/2007 19:16

Right, I'm convinced. Now only thing is...am I L and a half or M? When the jeweller measured my finger she said leading edge M but the ring I had on my finger was L 1/2 so which would I order?
