Backpack/buggy?

I may be imagining it but I'm convinced that I saw a backpack (for carrying babies/toddlers)which could also be converted into a buggy in a catalogue.
It was, so far as I can remember, a few years ago - long before dd3 was even thought of - and at the time I didn't need one. Now, I think that something like thing would be ideal for taking her on busy trains with no room for an unfolded buggy where there's a long walk at the other end.
Am I dreaming or does anyone know of such a product. Thanks.

there is one - it has just been released here in AUs.... small buggy that could be folded into a backpack.

Sounds like a great idea, but also sounds like it would be quite heavy - especially once you get a baby inside. Also, clearly you'd need to be able to put the baby down somewhere safe while you converted the thing from one use to the other - which wouldn't be so easy if you're on the street somewhere. I'd check those aspects, as you wouldn't want a great concept rendered unusable by it being impractical.

eidsvold,

do you have a manufacturer's name for this or any other info. Even if I can't buy it here, it would be useful to see what it looks like.

Thanks

We had one of these! It was 4 years ago for ds2 and was from mothercare(own brand). Really useful as a baby carrier then folds out into a little buggy, ideal when on the beach or out for a ramble(not that we did that often!). Don't think they do them any more and we gave ours away...worth trying e-bay?

Tabitha, for a while Mothercare sold one in the UK - I saw a mum out with a child trundling him along in it once in the City. I'm not sure it is still sold - like you, didn't need it at the time!
I think some of the big US manufacturers might do something like this...Kelty? Bushbaby? Hopefully Eidsvold can help.

sorry saw it in a parent magazine and now can't put my hands on the mag..... will keep looking

I did see a back pack that had wheels. It was like a piece of luggage you see being dragged around airports but I thought it looked great. The baby/toddler stays in it backpack style and can be carried as such but then the wheels allow it to be pulled or pushed around like a trolley. Have no idea where they can be found but saw this only last month

Mothercare World did one a few years ago. Our nephew had one and it was fine for occasional use but got the impression it didn't get used very often because he was rather heavy for a backpack and the buggy part seemed pretty basic. I think Chicco still make one but am not sure if it is available in UK.

Found this

Saw them in Mothercare about 3 years ago Don't know if they are still available but I found they were uncomfortable on me when I tried it on with DS insode. We ended up with an expensive backpack which has been used now for DS and DD. I can still walk for ages with DD (20mths) in it

there was one for sale at an NCT sale in Dunblane last saturday... was still there quite near then end. You could contact the Stirling branch & chase it up if you've run out of other options...

eidsvold · 03/10/2004 05:12

checked the mag when I was in the store yesterday and it was by safety 1st - think it was called 'stroller to go' just tried their website but can't seem to find anything about it on there. Will try and find my magazine and see if they have linked a website to it.

tabitha · 03/10/2004 13:14

Thanks everyone for your help.
ja( - will try the NCT in Dunblane, although I expect it's gone by now funnily enough, I had thought about going to the sale but forgot all about it. Failing that I'll maybe try the American company that Pagan mentioned and see if I can buy it from them.
Thanks again.
