What dishwasher do you have and would you recommend it?

My dish washer has packed up and I have been looking at replacements, I thought I found one a reasonably priced Kenwood at £249 but have just seen some terrible reviews for it. I don't want to spend a fortune but I don't want to buy a cheap one that is not very good either. Any suggestions??

I have a Bosch one, that is the best one I've owned so far, but still not 100% satisfactory. It has much lasted longer than my previous ones (Zanussi, AEG - both died weeks after the gurantee expired), and is used very intensively (2 or 3 full loads per day in a hard water area). But, things in the back half of the bottom section do not come out clean; I've cleaned out all the arms etc, and it makes no difference.

I have a tricity bendix and it has been going strong for the past 10 years. Was their bottom of the range but gets everything clean.

bosch, for about 7 or 8 years,
everything is clean when it comes out
on every day, just once though.
tis a bit smelly sometimes now though, has to be cleaned.

Thanks - I will look at bosch then

The Kenwood reviews are right - they are crap

Had ours for about 2 1/2 years, and have had nothing but trouble with it. Looks lovely (stainless steel) and I'm sure its only working cos its scared of me

Wish we had bought Bosch....

another vote for bosch
all our white goods are Bosch and we have never had a problem with any of them

Watching this with interest as mine has also just packed up! I have 4 dc's and dishwasher is on twice a day. I miss it already and it only packed up this morn!

I had a "tecknik" (sp?) because it was free with the kitchen.

It was absolutely terrible and I would say make sure you get a recommended dishwasher as it is a real nuisance to have one that performs poorly.

Also, does it need to be installed by a specialist if its an integral one? or can dh do it

I have an integrated AEG and it's not great. passable but not worth the money.

peanutbear · 31/08/2007 16:00

I have a bosch often things dont come out clean and it has no quick wash for light use either

I have just bought an Indesit IDL530 from Currys for £200 and I think it's really good value for money. It's AAA, has 5 wash cycles and I haven't had any problems with it at all. I guess the only thing with Indesit is I've heard they don't last as long, but I personally decided it was worth a try for the price.
