have heard that the shade-a-babe is good. I'm fed up with useless parasols. Would be grateful for any advice - going to Italy next week so need something decent. thanks.

I've been using a shade-a-babe all summer, and I love it, much better than parasols. It is easy to put on and take off, it took a bit of practice to work out how to fold it on top of the buggy hood, and it means I don't have to worry about any part of dd being in the sun, although she has now worked out how to stick her legs out the sides (all the better to kick unsuspecting passers by ).

or the protect-a-bub

I have a shade-a-babe. Great for when ds was a few months but now he's 16 mo he creates merry hell every time I try to use it.

Actually, would you like it? Don't have a box or carrying thingy but it's in reasonable nick.

roskva - does your lo mind being covered up? i'm worried that our dd will hate being under a shade a babe (she's 14 mths)

dcb, my dd is happy enough being covered up at the moment (she is 12 months), although she does stick her legs out the sides now. I started using the shade-a-babe when she was about 8 months. She hates having the sun in her eyes (who can blame her) and she seems to know that the cover prevents that.

My 15 mo hates the sun shade with a fiery passion but if you wait until the sun is right in her eyes to put it down, she doesn't seem to mind so much.

Dcb, seriously, you can have mine if you'd like it, just for postage. When are you going away?

Some babies just don't like shade-a-babe's (my ds1 hated it) as they're too enclosed. Also a bit big even folded up under the pushchair. But they do give complete cover. I got a Rayshade for ds2 and it's really good, covers almost all of him and he can see out still. I got mine on ebay. I think Outlook also do rayshade look-alike called a Solar Shade I don't know anything about it though. Looking at it, doesn't extend as far forward as my rayshade does on the mountain buggy urban. But the colours are nice!

If it is sun in eyes that is the problem rather than needing sun protection then maybe a pair of Baby Banz would be a good bet.
