Memory Foam Mattress- Think it's causing me problems

I bought a memory foam mattress like the tempur ones in the hope that it would help my back and hip pain.

Unfortunately, I think it's had the adverse effect. We've just come back from 5 nights away and sleeping on a normal mattress and my stiffness, back and hip pain was so much better. Came back yesterday, spent one night in my bed and guess what ? Today I am in loads of pain again.

I was under the impression that these memory foam mattresses are supposed to be good for back and joint pain.

I have a facet joint problem and a degree of hypermobility so I am very loose in the ligament department so I'm just wondering whether these types of mattresses are just not suitable for me ? It seems so but has anyone else had any experiences, good or bad ?

I have a memory foam mattress and it is great and really helped me a lot in comparison to the traditional type. I also like it because it seems to bounce my body heat back at my body.

They are quite soft really though even though they mould into you and do support maybe you could just do with something else like pocket sprung or something. If you are really having such severe problems on your mattress then I would get rid of it and try something else.

they don't suit everyone. a friend who bought a new bed recently was advised to try a friend's before she bought one - she really didn't like it so got a normal, firm mattress.

We ahve a firm mattress with a memory foam mattress topper. It works well for me, but the same mattress topper on a less firm mattress wasn't nearly as good.

I have just got a tempur mattress and at first thought I had made a really bad mistake, my back pain was slightly better but still waking me up in the early hours. However this morning I noticed the back pain was much lower than it used to be and my DH said my psoture was much better than normal. I am concluding from this the the back paim I am currently getting is just from my body being "forced" into the correct position by the matress and as soon as my body recognises this as a normal position and the muscles become less stretched then the pain will go.

I've had upper back pain for a couple of years now, and have recently started look at memory foam mattresses online. The prices seem to vary so much, and I am worried about buying a poor quality on.? Are they all basically the same, or does the quality differ? I was reading on here www.king-size-mattress.co.uk/memory-foam-mattress.php that the quality does differ, but it is hard to know how much of this is manufacturers hype. Maybe I should stick to the big brand names?
