Sling for 14 month DS - any suggestions

Hi

I currently have an ergo carrier which was ok when I wore DS on my front but we can't get teh hang of hip or back carrying. DS is quite clingy at home and I just want a simple carrier to use at home to allow me to get on with things. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I won't be the first, but coorie (fleece) or kimmer (cotton) pouch sling which you would wear on your hip with a 14 month old. I have a similar one from hotslings which I use every day. But you could only use it for 20 mins at a time, not as easy to do some things as they'll be grabbing but soooo easy and quick to put on and you can shove it in a bag. I take mine everywhere. Coorie available from www.brightsparkslings.co.uk/slings.htm
Have you tried getting your ds to climb onto your back himself with the ergo, someone on here said that was a really good way with toddlers. Get him to stand on a couch etc. I'm sure there are better sites showing how to do back carries with an ergo, but I've lost m bookmarks. I have an ergo and do struggle with getting ds2 on my back (he's nearly 9 mo and 19 pounds) but I think it poss comes down to technique and practising!

I bought one from Freedom slings on ebay. They also have a web site I think. Simple cotton ring sling. I am using it for 22mnth for sitting on my hip and I put it around his waist to stop him running off when walking. Best sling that I have ever tried, quick and easy to put on, a few different options to see which suits you best. Brill

Thanks - I tried again with the ergo and did manage to get him on my back - much easier with DD who is 3 though - more compliant! He was quite happy playing on my back but I found it less comfortable than when he is on my front - it pulled quite a lot on my shoulders and across my chest. I will have a look at the Coorie as I like the idea of the simplistic design.

sounds like success bojangles! I wish I could do it with ds2, he's really hard to sling onto my back. DP does it by putting him on his hip then shuffling him round (it's on the ergo dvd) but I couldn't get to grips with it.
Shows how personal slings are, as I bought a freedom ring sling and could not get on with it at all!
