OK getting bathroom done soon. Have decided on basin and loo. Now trying to decide on a bath. I would like either 1700 x 750 mm or 1700 x 800 mm in size.

Cannot decide to apy extra for the extra thick acrylic ones or not - like carronite or the idealcast ones, they cost quite a bit more - are they worth it?

Any help would be much appreicated.

We've had Kaldewei which feel nice and substantial.

Is that the name of the make or model?

Yes have found them online - but they are steel - does that make the water go colder quicker than acrylic?

I've just bought 2 baths, one thick acrylic and one steel. I was advised to get acrylic if the bath is to be mainly used for bathing (as ours will be - have sep. shower), and steel if it is mainly for showering (got that for ds's bathroom - his bath doesn't need to be too hot, and guests use it just for showering). Steel does make the water cool down quickly.

hmm not that we've noticed tbh.

My plumber told me to get acrylic that is greater than 7 mm thick, but they are so much more expensive than the 5 mm thick ones. I am thinking of the Ideal Standard create bath that is 1700 x 750 mm.

I think what you get depends, in part, on how long you're planning to stay in the house. Even the thinner acrylic usually has a 10 year guarantee, so if you think you'll be moving before then I wouldn't bother spending the extra.

Having said that, I went for the thicker acrylic, even though we're planning to move within the next 2/3 years, because we're very clumsy people and I thought the stronger thought the better! Plus I want it to look good when the house goes on the market.

No immediate plans to move, so hoping to get a few years use out of it.

We will use it mainly for showers (daily me and DH) and children bath plus me baths at weekends.
