Does anyone know if, or where, I can get hold of replacement lids for anyway up cups (the ones with the handles)? DDs are now looking a bit worse for wear!

I think I've seen them in Tescos, Mothercare & maybe Boots. Not sure if they're the right type though.

MandyD · 31/08/2002 22:42

I got a pack of 2 in Mothercare, £2.49 I think.

batey · 01/09/2002 07:54

Sainsburys do them too.

Ghosty · 01/09/2002 08:13

I couldn't find the ones with handles either (the ones that screw on, right?) I rang the company that market them but now can't remember the name of the company (Sorry! There was a number on the little leaflet that came with a new cup) That is what I did and I got sent two new lids in a couple of days. Not too expensive and a really nice helpful lady on the end of the phone!!

XAusted · 01/09/2002 15:13

Do you mean the old ones (see through cups with screw on lids?), if so don't think they make them any more.

The newer ones (coloured cups, snap on lids)all use the same type of lid and you can get new lids in Tesco.

By the way, "Anyway up" lids also fit those little coloured plastic beakers that come in packs of 6 from Ikea - DH discovered this when washing up!

Thanks for the messages (apologies for delay in replying!) The lids I'm looking for are for the Smiley (?) Cups. I think I've seen ones that don't have the handles on, so I may give them a try.

Yup - the 'smiley' ones - I remember. They do still do them but they don't sell the lids in the shops. Ring up the company and they'll send them to you.

Also can I get replacement lids for the Avent Magic cup? I have about 6 cups but DS has chewed holes in most of the spouts.

Scatterbrain · 02/10/2002 16:41

Sorry to be so late on this - but yes you can get replacement green spouts for the Avent cups. Tesco, Mothercare, Boots etc - they seem to be fairly common now. Packs of 2 for £2.50.

Bozza · 02/10/2002 16:43

Thanks for that Scatterbrain - will have a look next time I go.

Elf · 02/10/2002 20:35

What are your opinions on the best spouty cup thing please? I have bought about four now and they are all complete b*ocks. The last one I bought was a smiley anywayup cup but it didn't work! I figured it would be worth finding out about people's favourites. Thanks.

I go for anyway up cups without the handles. Think they're quite hard to drink from, though. Dd has no problems with suction (as I remember awfully clearly from bf days), but a couple of her visiting friends haven't been able to get any liquid out at all. You also have to replace the lids quite frequently, otherwise they'll spill everywhere - I get replacements about every two months. When new, I've not had a single spill, despite dd taking them to bed with her at night.

SoupDragon · 02/10/2002 21:35

I'm a big fan of the Avent Magic Cups. They come apart completely and are dishwasher safe.

Scatterbrain · 02/10/2002 21:58

The Anyway up cups are really hard to drink from - I've tried a few times and you have to really really suck hard. My dd is generally OK with them, but not when she's teething - and she absolutely refused to take milk from them, so we have the Avent ones for milk and Anyway Ups for juice. Also - now have some "sippy cups" for juice as she is 2 - she likes them as she thinks they are "big girl cups" - but beware - they are not leakproof !

musica · 02/10/2002 23:02

My ds won't drink at all from the Anyway up cups - only the Avent Magic Cups.

GillW · 03/10/2002 14:23

I just gave up on all the non-spill type cups because DS couldn't cope with any of them. So we resorted to the old-style spillable ones (which are at least cheap) and a Doidy Cup which definately isn't non-spill but which he managed to cope with quite successfully from about 5 months if I remember rightly.

Elf · 09/10/2002 19:26

thanks for the tips, I shall try an Avent Magic Cup next.
