Just taken Ds for his first pair of school shoes and he was so excited but we came away emtoy handed.

He was measured as a 9H and they only do one black shoe in a H fitting and I didn't like it as basically it was a black trainer and didn't look like it would last very long.

I asked of they will stock more styles in larger stores but was told no, not in H fitting.

So where else can I go ?? I'm in Birmingham, sutton coldfield.

God Clarks wind me up.

And we haven't even been for the traditional Summer holiday torture session in one of their shops yet.

Clarks could do with some serious head to head competiton on the high street. I really think they've got far too big for their boots these days if you'll pardon the pun!

Ohh I quite like those next ones.

We'll be avoiding Clarks for school shoes, despite ,my boys both wanting the ones that come with cars in the soles. We'll be off the an idependant shop, that can actually measure children's feet ptoperly.

I have Clarks shoes for dd but don't go to a Clarks shop.

Yesterday she saw a pair she liked in Brantano but they didn't have her size. Today I called the independent shoe shop near us who stock Clarks - they're getting them in for us in her size. No problem.

Same here Mrs.Scavo. I'm over the whole Clarks thing. Also absolutely every single kid in the playground has them and so people lose them at PE and take home the wrong ones. I also find it soul destroying to see that many people in exactly the same shoe.

Clarks are too big. They are getting out of hand. It's time we supported other shoe makers.

Agree re Ricosta shoes. ds1 has had two pairs now (both same style) and they are brilliant. dh nearly had a fit at the price of the latest pair we bought but I reminded him that the first pair did last nearly all of the school year - hopefully these will too. ds2 has quite broad feet and he has had start-rite since he started walking. Independent shoe shop is definitely the way to go.

Yes Ricosta are gorgeous. I also love the Dutch make which does lovely wide girls shoes in goregous colours. What are they called again?

took my d to an independant shop who stock ricosta and start rite, h fitting with special inner soles for toe walking so very hard to get shoes. Clarkes is a waste of time. If you go online you can find local ricosta stockists, who will professionally fit the shoe
