Why do SOOO many people own a MACLAREN PUSHCHAIR?????

I am in the market for a pushchair for a 2.5 year old and have been doing my research. I walk a lot and have a bad back so want something that is easy to push and doesn't require me to bend down. I am thinking biggish wheels - less rolling resistance - and light weight frame.

Every shop I go into suggests the maclaren but it has tiny wheels and a very small shopping basket. I think it is good for people with cars who want something small and handy.

I would love a 3 wheeler but feel it is too much at this stage.

SO is a Maclaren with small wheels a good buggy ?

Dros, my sister has a bad back (had an op for a prolapsed disc so has to be very careful in case another goes) and loves her I'coo infinity, made by a firm called Hauck. It looks like a sturdy buggy but is surprisingly light to push. Unfolds in a shake.

dros I love the instep nipper 3-wheeler - it's easy to push and lightweight.

Not something I'd buy for a 2.5yo (that's when DS2 more or less gave it up) but maybe second hand? I have one to sell actually....

No but really, plenty on ebay. Wheels come off ao it goes in the boot. Much lighter than many 3-wheelers.

urban detour at £30 is a bargain, especially if you are planning on going off road a lot. We are using it a lot more now than when originally purchased. My 2.5 year old is very comfy in it, but is already too big for his Maclaren.

but perhaps not recommended if you have a bad back -- it is heavy (urban detour)

I used to work for Mothercare. Maclarens were the most reliable pushchairs we sold. They were returned for repairs far less than any other brand.

Thanks everyone. It is so difficult to find shops that stock all the buggies. I saw the Britax Verve on Boots website and eventually after many phone calls founbd aplace that sells them and then I couldn't believe the shopping basket. It was a pouch really. Lovely to push though. Better than the Quinny I thought.

Thing is I need a shopping basket. I think what I want simply doesn't exist:

-Something that is not too bulky - rules out most 3 wheelers

  • not too expensive (around 130 -150 ish) rules out a lot.
  • easy to roll - probably means biggish wheels.
  • Biggish shopping basket.

Tell me guys does it exist?

I saw a Jane Energy on one website but can't find a shop that stocks it.

I have a Micralite at the moment which ticks most of those boxes but the front wheels are crap and one is broken and the folding mech is not working very well.
