Tall 3 year old

I have a tall 3 year old, 107cms at last check and she is nearly 3 stone. Gorgeous, just big. Most of the time she is happy to walk wherever or go on her bike, but sometimes she is better of riding, long (boring) shopping trips and holidays etc. I am having trouble finding a stroller/buggy that will accomodate a child that is tall. She currently looks as if she has pinched a little baby's buggy as her head is way higher than the back rest and she sometimes wants to doze off, like on holiday when she was hot and tired. No chance. She is better off in my large 3 wheeler but large 3 wheelers and car boots/aeroplanes don't mix. Does anyone have a tall child in a buggy that fits or know of one that accomodates up to 4 years PLEASE

Hi there,

I have a big tall son who is nearly 4 and I have had a similar trouble with pushchairs, especially as he hasn't been keen on walking (although we have just been on holiday for a week and he hasn't asked for it once so its a bit of a breakthrough for us )

Anyway, we got through several pushchairs but the last one I bought has been pretty good. It is a Mothercare one called a Jive Stroller. It certainly feels a lot more robust than the Chicco one I had before which completely collapsed after 5 months. I have had this one about 9 months now. The only problem is that DS is getting too big for it as the weight of him resting his feet on the footrest is acting like a break unless he has his feet right in the middle of the foot rest. However, he is probably a good stone or more heavier than your daughter and slightly taller - he is very stocky and very very solid although not fat at all - my husband says he is destined to play rugby, he is that sort of build.

However he does fit in it and as I say it doesn't appear to be about to collapse all the time. It is very basic with no hood or anything like that but it is cheap (£35). I assume you don't want to spend a lot as your DD will probably not need it soon anyway. The other thing in it's favour is that it is very light and easy to fold up.

You probably need to try it out to see if it is any good but it worked for us. We asked in Mothercare about the best model and they said that most models aren't really for children over 15kg but we gave the Jive Stroller a chance and so far so good.

thanks for that, glad to know I am not the only one breeding tall children!
I will give it a go, I have found some great ones in US where kids seem to be bigger but they cost a fortune in the UK and I am not about to start shipping especially as we have just come back from a US holiday. Oh why didn't we have internet then!??

I'm using a Zapp and a Jane Carrera for my 3.5 year old.

the maclaren techno xt is suitable for children heavier than 15kgs it is certainly larger than standard buggies - buy a 2nd hand one?

I have a nearly 4 yr old who is almost 3 stone, I use the Quinny Zapp for him and can still push it with one hand
