Does anyone know why this says for age 6+?

No idea tbh! I can't see any reason why a 3 yr old can't have it. Maybe they're thinking more along the diffuculty line. Perhaps its designed for children that are able to hold a pen/pencil properly iyswim.

It's probably because of the age that it can get the best use from.
A lot of the age limits are because of how they can do different skills etc. not just because of small parts etc

My 4 year old has some with no problem but he isn't that interested in it to be honest

I have some that my 5 and 4 year olds enjoy. 4 year old enjoyed it when he was 3 as well!

My ds has it, he is 4.8 and has used them for the last 6 months. It never occurred to me about an age limit mayybe it has something to do with the inks?! who knows!!

seems crazy to me as both dd1 and 2 were holding a pen or pencil properly and colouring in at 2.

my ds just had these for his 6th birthday! brilliant fun. No idea why they say 6+, i'd think fine for a 3 yo if you draw something and maybe they colour it in?

Probably to do with pencil grip. Lots of Crayola products for younger children have thick pens.

I can agree that they would get more from it age 6 or so, but I thought a 3 y o might enjoy just having a squiggle on it? I am 99% sure my 4 y o would like it.

Oh that looks good. ds1 (5 last week) would like that. I reckon kids of 5 and above would 'get the most out of it' in terms of doing patterns/designs but I am sure my 2.5 year old would love it too to squiggle with and get me to draw yet ANOTHER Big Murray Momma Car.

The age guides are often odd. I bought 2 birthday presents, for children turning 6, that were age 8+ - they were bug exploring kits adn they were very basic. I could not fathom why they were 8+ as ds2 (4) had been using similar stuff at nursery. So I just bought them!

GDG - ds1 has one of those kits and loves it. Did require me to 'help' a lot though. However, ds1 often demands 'help' when he can easily do stuff on his own.....

Ah - well, I thought it would be a good thing to have in the holidays, even if just for exploring in the garden!

no idea but I was talking to a toy shop owner today who said that something weird is happening with toy regulations and a lot of manufacturers are putting for 3 and up on things you would usually expect to be buying for 6month olds

GDG - it is fun! Was a fab little project for ds1 and I to do together! They will love it!
