hi all

I was following a thread for buggy board here which said graco citisport to be too light for the buggy board.
Iam planning to get one therefore all suggestions for a suitable buggy would be appreciated.
Iam eyeing the maclaren quest which is on sale in kiddicare.
Thanks all

cossatto helix (which is very much like the maclaren), cosatto kiwi and most maclarens, you are best buying a buggy with 2 separate handles rather than one with a whole bar going across IYKWIM? that way, the child on the board hasnt got to squash under the bar.

Do you think maclaren's are strong enough - only asking because I am having the same problem.

Titania · 21/09/2004 16:19

well ive seen people with them on the maclaren and they look ok.

I had the citisport with the BB, have now switched to Maclaren Techno - the Maclarens defintely feel much stronger and sturdier. The Techno seems to work pretty well - it has slightly larger wheels than the other Maclarens, which is good for all those little bumps. Haven't used the quest but opinion overall seems to be that the MacLaren are very well made. I have a friend that has had one for 4 or so years and has replaced the back wheels 4 times (only because they have worn down - she does major walks everywhere, no car).

No Maclaren as yet Guddy. I am like you - just wondering if it was worth investing money on one so am grateful for all advice!

Can I ask another question or three? Did having a new born in the Maclaren affect the use of the buggy board? Is it easy to walk with one or do you walk into it? At what age did your child find the bb useful to and from?

we have had a buggyboard on our Maclaren for nearly 3 years. We put the baby in the buggy when he was 3 months and no, it didn't affect using it.

My elder child was 18months when she started using it - she's just turned 4 and still does but not all the time (but she does get wheezy when she walks long distances so she has an excuse!). Ds tries to use it but could only safely do it from when he was 2 and a half. Before that, he used to jump on and off it all the time and be a real nuisance. I think the length that you use it for is entirely up to you and the child involved and the sort of distances you walk - I walk alot so we have had loads of use out of it (e.g. I only use it now if we have to get somewhere quickly or are going somewhere far).

It does affect your walking and I know plenty of people who have had back problems from it. You sort of stoop a bit to make space for it in front of you and you can't take a big step forward (much more noticeable when you are trying to walk fast or downhill). And of course, it's heavy because you are effectively pushing 2 kids - but I couldn't have managed without it.

it's really old guddy. Think it may be the daytripper. It's lasted a long time and done very well (given the amount I use it and the abuse it gets from me on pavements and off road!). I had a look at the Quest on kiddicare (great price) and it looks much the same as that (but older design i.e. the old style handles etc.).

By the way, I had a citisport and there's no way it would have managed with a buggyboard (not with my dd and ds anyway).
