Car suitable for a small women?

I'm getting on a bit and am looking for a car that fits my petite 5 ft frame. Not a man's car with the seat dragged forward till my chest is entangled with the steering wheel and pumped up so I can't get out of the door (Nissan Qashqai) I would like to see out of the windows clearly front, side and back, have the seat the right depth for my thighs without a cushion to push me forward. Just a neat, comfy little vehicle to take me to the shops. Is there such a thing? I have looked everywhere. In some cases I just disappear completely and have absolutely no chance of reaching the pedals. I once tried an Audi out of interest and had to be pulled out by the salesman as I got lost somewhere down the bottom of its deep dark well. At the moment I have a big automatic Volvo estate becuse of work but although I can adjust it to allow me to drive it isn't comfortable and I don't feel in charge of the great lumbering thing. Anyone any ideas? I live in rural England

In our area the rule seems to be "the smaller the woman, the larger the 4 wheel drive that is essential". At 5ft I reckon you'd have to drive at least a Q7 or Range Rover. Don't forget the oversized sunglasses to go with it Grin

I have a VW UP! I love it!

You would be fine in a Mini. I have the Clubman (so the big estate one and don't feel like I'm pressed up the windscreen at 5'1).

Get yourself an automatic as well for ultimate comfort 😂

5 foot 1.5 and I have a Ka+ which I love.

I have a Ford KA and I think it would be suitable for you based on what your looking for. I'm 5ft3 for reference. Good little run arounds and cheap to run.

I'm a shorty and I love my Hyundai i10. Compact but very nippy

5’2” with a little red Citigo. Bought it after trying anything and everything. Zips along, has everything in it, eco friendly and sips fuel! Same as VW Up, and Seat Mii with a Skoda badge. Best bit is the heated seats every morning that really help with back pain!

Have you considered an auto? It's really helped me.
I just got a Mazda cx5. Was close to getting a Nissan juke, but a squash in back and the Mazda had better spec.

Another thumbs up for the Skoda Citigo. I'm 5'2" and it's perfect for me. DD also drives it and she's a bit shorter than me. It's very upright, great visibility and has good storage capacity. It also only has two belts in the back so you can't have more than three passengers with you.

CottonSock · 25/09/2019 18:49

Sorry, I meant Mazda cx3. . The cx5 is huge!

YesQueen · 25/09/2019 18:53

I whine constantly about my polo because I can't adjust the wheel any higher and the seat is at its lowest and my knees are v close to the wheel! As I'm 5ft 10, it should work perfectly Grin

I was going to recommend the citigo too. My sil is 4'11 and loves it. I have one and I'm nearly 5'10 and I also got in perfectly but the best thing is that after lots of research and trying to fit in, it's also the best small car fit for my 6'3 son! Very versatile and light and easy to drive.

Marking place! We used to have a golf gti, it was great, lovely big windows and good driving position for me. Now we have a BMW 3 series and I have exactly what you describe - seat jacked forward so far I can barely get in and out and even then, I still can’t see well due to the very sloped windscreen and massive triangular side pillars. Next time I am lobbying to go back go a Golf although will also check out the recommendations here.

My sister is 5ft and has a range rover and a ford ranger! I don't think it really matters how big the car is.

Absolutely, friend is 4'10 and drives a 12tn horsebox.
