Driving a bigger car

So, on Tuesday I'm picking up a hyundai tuscon.

I currently drive a corsa, before a mazda 2 and before that a micra so all much smaller cars. We definitely need the bigger car but I'm feeling nervous. Will it be hugely different to drive? I'm hoping I'll get used to it quickly but I'm just worried (I worry about everything, I'm my own worst enemy)

It won't be hugely different to drive, but it will be different to park.

A Tucson isn't that big. I went from an Ibiza to a Kia Sportage and the biggest difference was that visibility was much worse, despite being higher up. My husband's car is a very big saloon but is much easier to see out.

Most bigger modern cars have parking beepers and/cameras that really help with parking.

If you can find a quiet, empty car park go and have a few practices.

Straight forward driving isn't that different.

Just get a local driving instructor to take you out for a few hours. When we had a Mazda Bongo Van type people carrier we fitted a £30 Ebay reversing camera, you could park it so much easier then

I recently moved from a corsa to A meriva (no parking technology) and if anything it’s easier to manoeuvre.

I went from a 10 year old Honda Jazz (small) to a new Mercedes E Class Estate (5 metres long. Which is longer than almost all SUVs)

The new car is a million times easier to park. Power steering, parking camera, beepers, auto parking, bells and whistles etc. You need to be slightly more choosy in your parking spaces that you choose obviously. But you'll soon get a handle on the size of your car and the spaces you can fit in.
