Andrex packaging has permanently marked my bathroom flooring. Would you complain?

I buy big bags of toilet rolls. Recently bought a 16 pack of Andrex, which is packed in a polythene wrapper, printed with dark blue.

I store it in a corner of the bathroom, behind the loo. I think at some point the floor has been washed, and the bag put back before it was completely dry. I moved the bag on Friday to discover that there is a large dark-blue stain on the cusion-floor.

I wouldn't expect a polythene wrapper to bleed colour anyway. Who do I complain to (can't remember if I bought the andrex from Sainsbugs or Tesco), and will it do any good?

this happened in my kitchen as well. came in with the shopping bags and dropped them on the floor and knocked the cats water bowl a bit so the fkloor was wet.

took the loo roll upstairs about half an hour later and there was a makr on the floor.
its been there over a month and wont come off

Most packaging would mark though wouldn't it? I know I've opened packaging before and had the colouring on my hands.

Complain directly to Andrex. It might not work but it's worth a try. Nothing to lose.

We have the same problem with the Blue of the bread packaging. If you complain though, they might say that it was the fault of your floor cleaner - as it wil be that that leaches the colour out

flowerybeanbag · 30/07/2007 12:04

Sorry clumsymum I would expect wrapping like this to mark if left somewhere damp - it's one of those learning experiences we all go through, and I'm not sure you'd get anywhere by complaining...

clumsymum · 30/07/2007 12:04

No Dontlook, I honestly wouldn't expect printed polythene to bleed colour like that.

I do know that printed paper does, but not the sort of packaging that toilet rolls are wrapped in, and I've never had that problem from any other brand (I have no loyalty, just buy whatever is on offer when I need to re-stock). So own brands from Tesco/Sainsbugs, and Charmin have been stored in that way before (and probably put back onto wet floor), without leaving any kind of marks.

All coloured polythene packaging stains if you put it down onto a wet, porous surface, and they would probably expect an adult to realise this.

I don't think you'd get very far if you complained about it, tbh - this is something you are responsible for.

preggersagain · 30/07/2007 12:05

bleach and a scrubbing brush...............

clumsymum · 30/07/2007 12:06

So where and how do you store loo rolls etc? Do you all fully unpack them then?

Ill just add that the blue from the bread wrapper is on my kitchen worktop NOT the bathroom floor LOL

meemar · 30/07/2007 12:06

I wouldn't complain - there is not much they can do really. It's the nature of ink/dye - if you put it down on a damp surface some of it will mark the surface.

Probably better to spend your energy finding a solution to get the stain out.

WallyHerbert · 30/07/2007 12:07

Exactly what wwb said

popmum · 30/07/2007 12:23

you could maybe claim on your contents insurance? Or ask them at least for a professional cleaner? Or try one of those magic cleaning blocs?

meowmix · 30/07/2007 12:29

god they always do this, one of lifes little hidden joys. Sorry but its your responsibility to store them and it probably says on the packing to store somewhere clean and dry.

lemon juice and sea salt worked on our bathroom floor

meh - happens with bread bags as mentioned, also with carrier bags from some shops if your hands are sweaty

(my loo rolls live in the airing cupboard)
