wander if anyone can help - expecting my first very soon, and want to buy a buggy. Need a 3 tough wheeler as live in very rural location and have farm. I've read so much about lying newborns flat etc fro the first couple of months - so which one is best ie. toughest, best for baby etc. doesn't need to be travel system.

I have seen thast the landrover ones have a carrycot thing you can attach to the three wheeler to make it 'sort-of' a pram

landrover 3 wheelers have a good repuatation as far as I know

luley · 16/09/2004 15:46

thanks - looked on landrover website, and apperently they don't make them anymore!?

There's a review of the MB on the MN Review page !

we got the Twister XTS about 3.5 years ago for our DD. Its fantastic 3 wheeler from newborn (but has carrycot & car seat adaptors). We've used it for country walks and it handles really well.

Although it is big and a little heavy, bit difficult to fold away as well, but we had room so we always left it unfolded.

Is it sturdy enough ? It strikes me as a bit of an urban fashion statement than a real rugged 3 wheeler. Nothing wrong with urban fashion statements, I had one myself, but I do wonder if it is rugged and hardwearing enough.

We have a Quinny.I don't think they make mine(Fashion) any more which is a shame as it did go flat and was really supportive for a little one without he need for a carrycot and the seat unit was reversible which is unusual for a 3 wheeler. However the Quinny Freestyle has swivel wheel, is classed as from Newborn and can take carrycot or Maxi Cosi car seat to be really flat. It is really popular in Switzerland and Europe in general so can withstand some punishment. Maxi Cosi (same company) make a similar one with swivel wheel but slightly less substantial and cheaper.

I have the E3 single that NDP mentioned. I love it to bits but haven't tried it with a newborn, only with a toddler. It is very sturdy and can go in the car with relative ease also. Ours is mainly used for the nursery run and also for off road walks for which it is excellent. I have put the seat into newborn mode (to see what it was like) when I bought it and can vouch for it being very flat. You can also buy many accessories for it to make it as comfy as you like. Website is here . HTH

This is a good site which discusses the advantages of different 3-wheelers: chariots . I have an MB Urban and I think it's great - it goes quite flat, but you can also attach a carrycot which is completely flat. Disadvantage is that it is expensive in the UK. However if you buy from NZ direct it is cheaper (cheaper in fact than the E3, even though that's not true here in UK) - try Winkalotts or there is a US supplier (linked to Winkalotts) who is also quite cheap - somebody here has bought from them, can't remember the URL - is it Rodney from Kiwikids? I haven't road-tested E3, but the key advantage there is its unique tandem system - so if you are thinking about no 2 it might be worth looking into. Plus it folds up a lot smaller than the MB.

mothercare have sevral different ones reasonabl priced

luley · 17/09/2004 16:38

thanks for all the advice - the chariots web site was good. MB seems the way to go, but terrain or urban - its a maze out there for first time mums.....need a darkened room........
