Help - Reflux Baby

Hi,

I am a newbie on this site and signed up today as it was highly recommended by a good friend.

I have twins a boy & a girl who are now 9 months old. I have gone up & down on all products trying out new things for both of them.

I am currently on the hunt for Bibs. Both my babies are messy feeders (aren?t they all) & I have used so many bibs in market but nothing that really works well. They either come in dull colours or they look faded once washed, and of course dry out and crack after washes.

My biggest dilemma is Christopher who appears to have severe reflux. There must be something out there that can help alleviate feeding times which seem to be a nightmare these days.

Does anyone out there have the same problems and if so has anyone found any bibs or something else which helps with this. I was told about the pelican bib, but I am not happy with the hard plastic.

Help!

My SIL had soft bibs with the detachable pelican bottom. Think they might have them in gltc or Blooming Marvellous

welcome to mumsnet - you will be hooked before you know it (types she who should be doing some work!)

I ended up throwing away most of our fabric bibs for the reasons you give - they just end up revolting no matter what you do.

I got to really like these soft but plasticky bibs from Mothercare - you have to wash them under the tap after use, but they don't age. We use them when dd is in the high chair, and a pelican scoopy bib when we're out an about and there isn't a tray snug up to her tummy.

For general wear though - when my dd was little and was VERY sicky, I don't think I could have done other than put her in a cloth bib though. She lived in one constantly till she was about 6 months. The others are just good for feeding.

Sorry can't find an example atm. We just used the standard plastic Tommee Tippeee ones , but found a problem if there wasn't much clearnace between babay and tray of highchair. You could put a soft one underneath for comfort I suppose.

My SIL used pelican bibs & found them very uncomfortable & her baby found it boring & instead of eating she concentrated more on trying to get the bib off her. So I am not too crazy about these pelican bibs. If you girls find some thing please keep me posted. Meanwhile I will keep my hunt for bib on ?..
