By very cheap I mean extremely.

Mine has been playing up for a couple of weeks now and today seems to have finally given up and refusing to spin my washing (great drip drying again).

I am completely and utterly broke, just for a change and won't be able to get one until dp gets paid at end of month anyway but even then the cheaper the better.

Try somehwhere local that repairs them - they sometimes have 2nd hand ones for sale. We got one for £50 that did the job fine until we could afford a decent one. It's still going strong in my niece's house now.

I didnt know what I was going to do, and mentioned in passing to my friend that I needed a new one. She had been in the process of placing an ad for her old one before I phoned and she just gave it to me!! So you could phone everyone you know to see if any of them are getting a new one and can sell/give you their old one (if you dont mind secon-hand that is!).

Yeah I could try that MUMINAMILLION, thats how i got the last one.

Will try the repair shops too, thanks scotlou

Nutty, it might just be the 'brushes', carbon rods that help to turn the drum round, ask around locally if some nice man/woman could come and look at it for you, they're approximately £4.00 a pair, you would need 2 sets. not fiddly @ all really....you could do it yourself if you had the right tools.

Hmm don't think it is that Mn cos it won't do any of the cycle now at all, just does nothing.

It wasn't brilliant when we had it so i suppose i shouild of really saved up for one as i've been expecting this to happen for ages.

nutty, pick up your local paper. often ads for them, or for people who recondition them in there.

Short-term you could rent one, but that works out v expensive long-term

nutcracker · 15/09/2004 12:04

Yeah I did think of renting one but you are right it is expensive in the long run.

I may have to beg my mom if i can have one out of her cat.

www.thegumtree.com is great for stuff if you are in london...not too much out of london. Otherwise try Loot. I've bought and sold lots of used appliances from both places.

Thanks, have a list of places to try now, and may even consdier renting one as although it's an expensive way of doing it, it means i won't be in this mess again.
