"Great Children's Book
The Runaway Bunny Review: First published almost sixty years ago and never out of print since, this book is the heartwarming story of a young bunny that wishes to run away and the mother who loves him so much that she'll follow him to the ends of the Earth. Throughout the course of the book, the "runaway bunny" and his protective mother engage in a make-believe game of chase. It's a comforting tale of a mother's love for her child and the length in which she'll go to make sure that he stays out of harm's way.

This book was a joy to read. The storyline is simple enough to keep a young child's interest but thought provoking enough to inspire discussion afterwards. The book's illustrations are vivid enough to add meaning to the tale but simple enough not to draw attention away from the story. All in all, I can see why this story has remained so popular over the years. It has everything you could ever want in a book aimed at preschool and kindergarten age children.

A heartwarming, beautifully "

sis · 14/09/2004 16:34

Oh MI - really? you've met/been near David Essex? I am really jealous too!

Davros · 14/09/2004 22:10

I have been going to see David Essex every year for about the last 20 years and first saw him in 1974 when I was 14! He is brilliant and its a great laugh. This thread has reminded me to check his London dates as he's usually here in the autumn, often Albert Hall. Grrrrr I thought I signed up for newsletters from his website but haven't had anything.
This is not a joke or substitute for a bad taste poem.

tamum · 14/09/2004 22:13

Maybe we should have a Mumsnetter meet-up to go to a DE concert! Think he'd be flattered?

I remember seeing a headline when I was in my twenties about his (alleged) penchant for schoolgirls and thinking bugger, if only I'd known.....

marthamoo · 14/09/2004 22:16

He has a lovely twinkle.

Davros · 14/09/2004 22:21

Oh eff! Forgot that he isn't touring this autumn but appearing in some musical play called Boogie Nights that is going the rounds all over the country. I was thinking of going to it when its at Wimbledon theatre with my lovely sis but that's not until Feb! A concert would have been fab, boo hoo!

Gingerbear · 15/09/2004 08:56

Marthamoo, have you seen David Essex's Twinkle??????????

ladywallopofcod · 15/09/2004 11:38
