Does it fold with the seat on the chassis?

Thanks

Hiya.

I havent got one, but went to see it on saturday as am thinking of getting one. It does fold with the seat on the chassis (v compact). Thats only the pushchair though - I think you have to take off the carry cot to fold it.

Im torn between the Toro and the Icandy Cherry - both v light, bu the cherry doesnt fold with the seat on the chassis.

MummyDarlingSausage · 30/07/2007 10:28

I also looked at one yesterday. I have a bugaboo which I just sold - I was fed up with the seperate chassis and seat unit. I am ordering the toro as it is much more compact and easy to operate. I pushed it around the shop and it did feel good.

boo64 · 30/07/2007 17:23

Hi

was the separate seat that annoying? In what way?

I have a micralite (old one though) and you do indeed have to take the carrycot off but that is the case with all carrycot prams I think

MummyDarlingSausage · 30/07/2007 18:01

The seperate pram is not really a bother - I only used mine for 5 months which is not long at all, but I didn't want to spend the next 3 years using the separate seat as I just found it annoying - if I needed to move the pushchair around from car to house or whereever it might be (even within the boot itself). It probably doesn't matter to some people and it didn't bother me in any great way but I just prefer the one piece.

trixymalixy · 30/07/2007 19:44

My Ds is past the carrycot stage. I have a Micralite fastfold which i love apart from the fact that it doesn't recline, which was why I was interested in the toro.

All my friends have bugaboos and it seems a right PITA to have to take the seat off the chassis to fold it.

trixymalixy · 30/07/2007 20:03

Did the seat look more supportive than the old micralite?

boo64 · 30/07/2007 20:08

we put a sheepskin in our M/lite and it made it a lot more supportive and comfy. But yep the lack of recline is rubbish.

It means that ds just won't sleep in the pram whereas friends who have Bugaboo's kids doze off as they recline so much.

maggie75 · 30/07/2007 21:26

The seat does look more supportive than the old Micralite - my reservation with it was that it felt a bit wobbly and that it might tip back - once it has a baby in it, it might even out the weight I guess.

It does recline right back, but it looks like their legs would be stuck up in the air - Im a first-timer - so not sure whether this would be uncomfortable for the baby or not?

MummyDarlingSausage - did you have the same issues with the toro?

trixymalixy · 30/07/2007 21:34

Dh has agreed to me buying one woo hoo!!

Will just have to decide what colour now.

The recline looks very similar to the bugaboos so don't think the feet sticking up in the air would be a problem. I probably wouldn't use it on full recline anyway.

Have seen it with different liners in it, white, black or stripy. Do you know if they are removable and interchangeable?

MummyDarlingSausage · 30/07/2007 22:55

Maggie75 , I'm not concerned about the recline as it is similar to the bugaboo and my ds always slept well when the seat of his bugaboo was reclined. Also, I noticed the Toro seat is not as deep as the bugaboo so the legs will be less stuck out (iykwim) they will be more 'flat' (?)

trixymalixy · 31/07/2007 10:59

Does it fold easily?

I just phoned Micralite with some queries and they said that it folds slightly differently to the fastfold, but didn't describe it well on the phone.

trixymalixy · 09/08/2007 17:29

Well I got my new Micralite Toro yesterday and so far i absolutely love it!!

Ds just looks so much more comfortable in it than the old Micralite.

I now can't decide whether to sell the old Micralite or keep it for when he's a bit older.

alymac · 09/08/2007 20:38

From what age do you think the new Micralite Toro is suitable from?

i'm pregnant at the moment and in process of looking but unfortunately havent found any shops in Scotland which are stocking the new model so havent been able to see it apart from in photos - would you recommend that i'd need the carrycot part?

trixymalixy · 09/08/2007 20:45

Yes you would definitely need the carrycot part for a newborn.

It says from 6 months for the main buggy.

Wherabouts in Scotland are you? I'm in Glasgow.

alymac · 09/08/2007 21:01

I'm in glasgow and was in the pram centre the other week and they had the old micralite but the lady said she wasnt sure they'd be stocking the toro

only got a little punto and dont fancy the big bulky looking pram combos that seem to be everywhere - but would be happy enough to also buy the cot bit

trixymalixy · 09/08/2007 21:12

I know I phoned the pram centre and they said they could order it in, but they might not be stocking it.

You're welcome to have a look at mine if you want.

My old Micralite just about fitted in my polo with the parcel shelf at an angle. Haven't tried the toro in yet.

alymac · 09/08/2007 21:20

cheers i might come back to you on that one, will have a look online and see measurements and get the tape measure out to the amusement of my neighbours!!!

if i'm back in pram centre (undoubtedly) will ask them about ordering and prices as i've spotted a few places online with reasonable prices and free delivery

just discovered this mumsnet malarky - very useful so far.... thanks for advice

trixymalixy · 10/08/2007 20:49

Alymac pics of toro on my profile.

I got mine from www.babyequipmentcomplete.co.uk

alymac · 10/08/2007 22:58

super stuff, thanks for those... i think its the microlite toro for me, was at the Burrell Collection today and spotted another person with one and stalked her for about 5 minutes

the place you got yours seems to be the most reasonable place yet and i had emailed them yesterday and they've both the stroller and carrycot in stock... now decision time about colour, although still a couple of months to go

MummyDarlingSausage · 11/08/2007 11:15

I do love my Toro - have had it for a few days now. It is very easy to fold up or out. I would say one thing though. If you are tall please push it around in a store beforehand as I am 5'8 and the handles are only just tall enough. I think any 6 footers out there might find it too short. You can adjust the handles but we need ours 'flat' and not sticking up so that it fits in the boot. My ds looks really comfy in it though and I am pleased to have bought it

Bushnels · 11/08/2007 14:47

All I can say is I hope the front wheels have improved. they are crap. There is a lot I love about the Micralite fast fold but the front wheels are really poor.

trixymalixy · 11/08/2007 20:02

I'm pleased with mine too mummydarling.

I am also 5'8" and find it ok heightwise as we have adjusted the handlebars up slightly.

The front wheels are slightly different to the fastfold they run a lot more smoothly but still a wee bit on the flimsy side.

MiggyPop · 12/08/2007 05:23

Does anyone have the sunshade? Is it of good quality? I'm in Australia so really need it to be decent. Haven't got my Toro yet..apparently it's sitting in customs!

Bushnels · 12/08/2007 10:03

I have the sunshade for the fast fold. The plastic rod that gave it shape cut through the material. I had to cut some of the plastic away and sew it again. Other than that it is great.

MummyDarlingSausage · 12/08/2007 16:06

Does anyone know where I can buy the sunshade for the toro online? thanks
