My changing bag (a kaboodle rucksack) is dying rapidly and want to replace it with something less bulky and a bit more feminine. Has anyone got any tips/recommendations?

I used a lovely pink bag that i got as a freebie with one of the Magazines, Cosmo or New Woman or something. It's done a grand job as it has a few sections and 2 zip pockets too. Not much help to you mind as it was given away ages ago.

Any bag you quite like the look of - personally I now use a vinyl small bag with colourful dinosaurs on it - containing portable change mat till they can stand up, three nappies, wipes and a couple of nappy sacks.

ATM i have a huge black nappy bag, loads of sections, very handy etc, but i find it too uch for a short trip out. I am also on the look out for a new bag, saw a few in Gap the other day, basically pink sholder bags, i think it had 3 sections, but didnt think the strap was long enough to hook over the bars on my pram.

I threw out my old bag as it was such a state and have found a great one in Jojomamanbebe catalogue. I like rucksacks as I can keep my hands free and I dont like bags on my pram. It isnt very feminine but has lots of pockets and looks useful.

just use a lrger handbag
have never had a changing bag
waste of money imo

i have the smallest changing bag ever, just a really nice handbag which fits a couple of nappies some wipes and my keys. Wish i had room for a change of clothes though, ds's nappy leaked all up his back and down his leg in asda today and had to sit on the bus with him all smelly.

misdee · 12/09/2004 21:10

how old is mini bean? i used to take ou a sleepsuit with me for accidents, lot smaller than a whole outfit.

I bought a black messenger style bag from a bag shop which was much cheaper than a purpose designed nappy bag. It goes over the pram handle well and I can get everything in it. I don't have a big pram basket so it doubles up for somewhere to put purchases. However I only got that once ds was well into his solid food then I had all this stuff to take with me. Before that it was the glory days of a nappy and wipes in my handback .... bliss.

Handbag, that is.

Agree with Coddy. A nice big bag is what you need. Recommend Orla Kiely ones, personally. Makes you feel more of a person, less of a mumsy mum.

Welshmum · 13/09/2004 11:15

My sister has just treated herself to a beautiful Orla bag. I'm so tempted to celebrate needing less stuff for DD by buying a new expensive bag. Saw some nice ones in Jigsaw too at the weekend - in a soft lilac, dusky pink and another one in brown.
They also have some pretty funky stuff in Topshop too

motherinferior · 13/09/2004 11:24

Also once they are big enough get them a nice little rucksack - Traidcraft has some lovely little red cotton ones with animals on - to carry their own spare nappies!

Sallie, a friend has treated herself to a gorgeous Eat Yer Greens Chinese brocade changing bag. It has all the pockets that I think you do find handy if your baby is tiny, but will convert to a glamorous tote bag really easily later on. She loves it so much she wants to take it into hospital and we've all had to warn her it might well get pinched...

lulupop · 14/09/2004 16:41

Yes I have that Eat yer Greens bag too and it is lovely. Lots of pockets and a changing mat but looks like a normal bag so you would use it later too.

That said, it's a bit big just for a quick trip out, and also the handles won't go over handles of buggy the same way a proper "pram bag" would, but that doesn't bother me.

Got mine in local baby shop but I see now Blooming Marvellous have it in their catalogue.

Oilily also do nice baby bags. Or, as others have said, a nice big tote will do the trick.

When I was in Aus last year on a holiday, I bought an amazing baby changing bag from a local company called great expectations. When I came back all my friends were in awe & we searched a lot for this bag but realised no one sold them here. Recently I found the same bag in blooming marvellous catalogue. Surely some one must be importing these??.. My friends & I were so happy? we did some research & found out that it?s from a company here in UK called Bebeniq. You can buy these from them directly or at blooming marvellous. this the product code is 7812. I have used & abused this bag to full extent & recently passed it on to my SIL as my DD is out of diaper changing stage, the bag is as good as new even after countless machine washes. I bought another back pack from the same company directly. Which saves me using my own handbag as it comes with detachable mini backpack. this
I just can?t stop recommending these bags to other moms.
