Ladies suit/smart smart trousers wanted - but pregnant

HELP!
My 15 week pregnant bump already means that I am wearing work clothes in the next size up and I am just getting by....

However, at the start of October, I have 2 very important work related things - one where I give a half hour talk in front of a few hundred parents - and I really need something ultra smart. But don't want to spend loads, as I probably won't wear anything so ultra smart again whilst pregnant.

Any ideas.....?

I think that classic black/navy blue trousers and a crisp white shirt always look very smart and professional and needed cost the earth. You can buy cheap but make them look expensiv e by adding some clever jewellry. Try Dorothy Perkins for maternity trousers or Mothercare and then get a classic white shirt either just a bigger size from M&S or a proper maternity one from Blooming Marvelous or the other shops mentioned.
If you perhaps can manage to wear high heels for the 2 events, that will make you feel smarter probably (it does me) and a nicely applied lipstick works wonders.
What size are you and where do you live as I have a pair of very smart Next Size 8 maternity trousers that I would lend you?

popsycal · 12/09/2004 19:48

Hmmmmm - if only I were a size 8!
I am usually a size 12 - a size 10 on a good day.
A 12 then lol

h&m does some nice maternity stuff, only in some of the shops though. pretty inexpensive too.

I had lovely shirt from dorothy perkins which was kind of gathered at the sides over my (huge) bump which i wore when i needed to be smart.

dorothy perkins is a bit of a pain for me - the maternity dept in town is upstairs and there is no lift.....note to self - plan shopping trip alone!

have you tried asda? i didn't reaaly like their maternity trousers and skirts but the tops were nice, and really cheap.

popsycal · 12/09/2004 20:03

grrr asda
went there the other day - they didnt even have any clothes in a larger size never mind maternity!
and tesco were useless today too
tomorrow for work i am currently considering wearing pyjamas!!

These could look quite smart with a nice jacket and top. They come in colours other than black too and are unbelievably comfy.

motherinferior · 12/09/2004 20:18

They do look nice.

I don't suppose my pregnancy black PVC jeans would do, would they

beansmum · 12/09/2004 20:30

what about this from formes, not cheap though. i wish i was pg, need an excuse to buy some new clothes!

Hulababy · 12/09/2004 20:59

I got my suit when pg from Next Maternity. I used it for school whilst pg right until leaving. Also used the trousers for going out sometimes too.

popsycal · 12/09/2004 21:02

hmmm - dont normally dress as formally on a normal school day as I inevitably end up getting covered in dust from our filthy school or getting chalk or board pen all over....

TBH Popsy, neither do I now but I diod once. This school isn't so formal as my last one. But it was first year when I was pg. And I just found the suit easier than finding different maternity wear to have for each day.

Pops - try eBay - what about this ?

Less than 2 hours to go!
