We are on our 3rd bath mat and like the ones that have gone before it has discoloured horribly (from limescale?) and is mouldy - does anyone know of mat that does not do this?! Thanks!

do you hang it up to dry after wards?

Carnoodleusfudge · 16/07/2007 19:41

Eugh

What about a duck board instead?

StressedEric · 16/07/2007 19:45

99p ones from Ikea - marvellous. Chuck in washing machine - they last for ages.

Halster · 16/07/2007 19:45

It's to stop the kids from slipping all over the place, so a duck board wouldn't work. Yes it gets hung up afterwards - which does keep a lid on the mould, but doesn't stop it going all yellowy brown. And yes it is v eugh!

I have an Ikea one - wash it once a week - as good as new !

MadEyeMisdee · 16/07/2007 19:47

are you i na hard water area?

i havew to soap mine down after each bath the kids have as the oils for their eczema eventually rots the rubber and it 'melts' when you lift it.

i buy the cheap ikea ones.

Halster · 16/07/2007 19:48

Oh god, so I should be washing them! . That'll be the problem then..... [Shuffles off to rethink hygeine standards..]

My mothercare one has never gone mouldy. It's a sea blue ones with turtles and fish on it.

MadEyeMisdee · 16/07/2007 19:55

if you are using eczema products, epseically the lardy looking creams on her skin (emulysifying ointment is one) then make sure you also wash the rubber seal on your washing machine as it can rot that as well.

We have a turtle bathmat. It was really expensive(about £35 I think). It is fantastic though and one of those things that I think is really worth it. It absorbs water really well and stays in place. I bought one for my parents too and they love it.

We've got a Mothercare one, too. We've been using it for nearly 4 years and it's still fine
