Seriously considering the Nissan Leaf as a second car and for short distances to my work and to the shops and such. Do you find it easy to use an electric car?

We are seriously considering the Kia e nero. We don’t do long journeys on a regular basis probably only about 4 times a year. We will be leasing though not buying as such. My dh can do a salary sacrifice lease thing through his work.

@StarWanderer def the Mitsubishi Outlander Phev. Had a huge boot and Is a smaller 4x4. Has around 1500kg tow capacity so enough for a caravan (but not a horse trailer annoyingly). The battery takes some capacity away as the Petrol version tows 2000kg

I am looking into buying, and got a great tip from a friend, use rent a car as a way to test a car. It is much faster and easier, and without the hassle of talking to the seller. I used this www.vehicle-rent.com/en/electric-car-hire/blog/ to test out two, and love the Leaf, and will probably go for it.

PrayingandHoping · 03/09/2019 12:24

@nikolim1 surely you have to pay for that? If you go to a main dealer it's free.....

I want to buy an electric car, but in electric car still become a luxury car in my country

I want to get an electric car but do not have off street parking. Our nearest charging point is round the corner and I am concerned it will not always be available - does anyone have experience of laying the cable across the pavement?

Since publication, the study has faced a raft of criticism over selective use of data, reports German press.

According to “WirtschaftsWoche” the study contradicts “in a blatant manner as well as all serious, international studies in recent months,” while mobility expert Don Dahlmann explains that the study is counting on wrong numbers. The Federal Environment Agency points to an extensive earlier study, according to which e-cars perform better than diesel cars.

Though tbf, we were taken in by the "diesel" is better than petrol conversations in approximately 2010 and purchased a diesel car!

Hi @UnrelentingFruitScoffer,

It's been a little while now since you first posted, I wondered whether you made the leap?

Your posts suggested that a Tesla could be a serious option for you, did you go for one in the end?

Hi @StarWanderer

As mentioned in previous responses, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV fulfills all of your asks AND a whole lot more.

The Outlander PHEV is a large, SUV/Estate plug in hybrid. It has a lovely high up position, a large boot, folding/splittable rear seats, roof window, and can take a tow hitch.

Additionally, it offers 4 wheel drive, a tea cup view of your car to aid parking, which means it has forward, sideways AND reversing cameras. Heated steering wheel, heated seats, lane assistant, adaptive cruise control, electronic tailgate which can be activated by your remote control, very handy when hands are full. There are so many features that make it such good value for money, especially when compared to other plug-in hybrids.

Additionally the Outlander PHEV has been out in some form since 2012 so there are lots of used vehicles to choose from. If you can stretch to a Model Year (MY) 2016 or later and the GX4HS OR GX5HS variant then you will find lots of lovely features included in the price of the car.

I'm hoping (dreaming) that Mitsubishi, Toyota, Hyundai or Kia release a fully electric version of a vehicle the same size as the Outlander PHEV, with at least the same features as the MY2016 GX4HS, with a WLTP battery range of 400+ miles. If/ when that happens, that will be our forever car. Until then the Outlander PHEV perfectly addresses all our needs Smile

Mitsubishi are pulling out of the UK completely.

Idk01 · 06/09/2020 08:55

I know @Elai1978

It's a nightmare, I understand that Colt wil continue supporting the Mitsubishi offering over here.

Yes, now I drive a Mercedes-Benz B-250e. I am absolutely happy with the car, I drive it to the store, or take the brothers to the sections or to school, since it is not very far away.
It's so exciting that you are choosing a new car now. I immediately ponastalized and remembered how anxiously and carefully I had chosen a car for myself. I still could not pick it up from the store in person, so I ordered delivery. Of course, I initially got the question "how to ship a car", but he quickly decided, because my friends suggested to me who to contact. It was a pleasure to be back after a hard day at work and to be delighted with my new car. I wish you the same emotions soon!
