does anyone know which ones I mean and who makes them (I seem think they're Plikos but not sure). Am looking to get one but have no idea what to search for.

Mamas and Papas Plikos do have a little step on the back, but it's not really a built in buggy board.

In fact I'm selling a Pliko on ebay now, auction closes at 11.49am, talk about good timing ;)

Link to my Pliko auction

oh bugger I'll probably be too late - is for an older child to stand on then?

It strikes me as being a bit shallow for a child to stand on tbh.

There is a Chicco one which has similar platform to Pliko - not very wide but enough for occasional use. Friend had a M an P Sherpa which had a more substantial step and I think the reversible handle one (Venezia?) was similar.

I had one - Waki Rider - which was useful for a while, but the seat didn't recline so it's no good for a small baby. Gave it away to a mumsnetter!

right, thanks very much for your help. I've looked for the sherpa but it's not available anymore, have just been on the phone to M & P and they don't do anything similar anymore. However, the version of the Pliko available in Germany does have a buggy board type thing. I even found somewhere that does shipping to the UK for 5 euros.

I had two people in two different shops swear blind to me that this little step is simply for putting your foot against when pushing the pushchair open, not to be used as a buggy board type arrangement - which is exactly what I thought it was for, and what I see them being used for. Only thing I wonder is that isn't it a bit uncomfortably narrow for the child to stand on? Be okay for shorter journeys I guess. The ones I saw were the Pilko as you mention, and I think Bebecar does something similar.
