My ds is 2.5 and I wondered about getting one in a couple of months to try and help his balance etc. Im not sure whether it is worth getting one of the expensive ones in case he hates it but have seen some less expensive wooden and aluminium ones on ebay ... does anyone have one they can recommend?

The Puky training bikes, metal, are much lighter than their smallest real bikes.

I definitely like the look of the Puky bikes as the bit they step over is very low and looks easier for them to cope with. There seem to be 3 or 4 models of Puky learner bikes though so I guess I will have to try and find somewhere that stocks them so I can see which one is suitable. He is fairly tall for his age so the middle one may work!

The aluminium ones are mega light as well - ours is 3.4 kilos. Also it's not the same as taking the pedals off a normal bike - it has a steering limiter to prevent jack-knifing.
